EP48 (Process Walkthrough)

The process breakdown is up! It was a tough set this time, so there are plenty of lessons learnt and a lot of build on. The more "surreal" setup of setting and lighting this time compared to my usual stuff definitely brought me out of the comfort zone to say the least and made the process one of significant frustration... There are plenty of areas to improve as well, with perspective being as important as ever. Still, it was a good experience!

As always, I would love to hear any questions you have or any feedback at all you have for me :)

Thank you so much! I wonder if the sloppy backgrounds this time are any indication, but I didn't really have any anchor references for what I wanted to draw this time and it was a real challenge "patchy" method that you mentioned. I'd imagine having an anchor (80%) reference and supplementing it with supporting (20%) references might work pretty well. I'll definitely take your great suggestion for next time, thanks again! :)

Hello! If I may, I'd like to suggest my favorite drawing book Framed Ink, I found a lot of inspiration from how lighting can transform how we perceive portraits!

Hey Guys! I love the process walkthrough videos but I’m particularly weak in the construction process before i start rendering When I was younger I used to trace poses and faces and render them in black and white with pencil. It’s been a while since I’ve drawn but have been inspired by a certain digital artist to pursue the process in full I’ve been trying to construct and draw everyday and have yet to notice any significant results as of yet. Just wanted to know if anybody has any tips or particular exercises they enjoy and have seen results from. Thanks!

Love these pieces! One thing that would be great to see is maybe some of the "main" references you used. For me it's really hard to use references for backgrounds. Poses feels easier. I just feel like I sometimes make it very "patchworky" when I try to use different refs for the environment. It could be great just to see how you use them effectively. But I understand that there is a lot to talk about already when it comes to the pieces (: Hope you have a great day!
