The third of five artworks in the series I'm bringing to the art fair! Things have taking a slightly more abstract and fantastical turn here, and I'm not too dissatisfied with the results!
As with before, the consideration is to create something that looks as good as possible printed at a fairly large size, so I went with a main character that is "easy to print", with bright whites taking up the main part of the focus. Saying this, this is still pretty experimental as a concept on my end, so until the end, we won't really know if it works out as well as I hope...
To give a little bit of background on the piece itself, it takes inspiration from performers in ancient Japan. Specifically, the biwa-hoshi who were not only adept at playing their instruments, but also were famous for their telling of The Tale of the Heike. Some were known to be blind as well, which is a pretty cool fact!
Overall, I definitely struggled with the tigers the most (as expected), so there's still a lot to learn as always. But I think it will be a fun piece to showcase at the art fair nonetheless :)
As always, thank you all so much for your kind support - I look forward to sharing the final 2 pieces with you soon!!
