One more thing, If you want to create a backstory, I reccomend to think about what the charachters hopes/ideals and their fears are, to think about what kind of life situation they are in, and how they got there starting with their childhood, possibly even exploring the creation of influential charachters in their life like parents or close friends, and their relationship, if you really want to get into it. and dont fall into the trap of explaining too much about the backstory, as long as there is a backstory, you can explore recreating different situations of their life, and just let the audience speculate how everything is connected and what might be going on. shoving a truckload of lore into someones face makes it hard for people to digest it and bears the risk of turning people off.

that is actually very interesting, now the only difference beside a different set of poses between A and B seems to be the shoes. And let me just say this: I am very curious where this will take you. My main job for the last years and present is being a writer, and i could imagine based on the existing paintings with this charachter and this design sheet, what it would be like to create a backstory and some example dialog for this charachter. I dont know how far you want to go with this, but let me just tell you a little about how i like to do it. Just like how you study visual reference, for writing i study reference material as well. Thanks to the rich availability of information on the internet one can just start looking up documentations, videos, articles or maybe even interact in communities with people who might have a certain trait that one might want to explore for a charachter. And then its just about thinking about what you want, reflecing in the reference and getting a feel for a new fictional person, that overlaps with the different references, but still feels like its own beeing, and not just like a direct copy of any of them. Writing the most deep and authetic and lively charachter i could manage to create took me a couple of years of practice and LOTS of time to research, review ideas, reflect on it, and use my imagination to picture them doing certain things, talking in different situations, and then thinking about it and iterating on it for a long time. One thing I have observed over the years is that peoples talent often carries over, like someone who is good at languages might also be good at music, someone who is good with creating deep artwork might be good at writing and so on. Of course really getting into writing is quite the rabbithole, and not everyone will end up going down this hole to the same length, but who knows what will happen?
