GUWEIZ Patreon Series EP04

Thanks to everyone's excellent feedback and welcoming response to last month's real time lecture-style video, I felt comfortable doing one more to reinforce and show some direct applications of perspective in helping create the works you want to create.

In this video, I try to tackle the challenge of bridging together the concepts of camera focal lengths, distance to lens and camera placement with realistic application starting from visualization, planning and sketch stages. I also try to share more on why and how certain camera setups work as they do thanks to perspective, as well as how to better read and apply them to your work.

However, I feel that due to the nature and complexity of the subject, the video may be slightly confusing at parts as I wasn't able to cover some elements as thoroughly as I would have liked; if you have some clarifications, feel free to let me know in the comments below!

Thank you for your support and feel free to share your feedback as always!

So much valuable information! Thanks a lot!

Thank you, this is really helpful! This really helped me envision the lessons from part 1 even more

I hope you continue with this style of videos 🙂 I'm sure it takes more time for you but you're doing a great job explaining and it is very helpful and interesting. A very good follow-up to the last video 😃 Thanks again.

I'm glad you find it helpful! Regarding the 2 photos, the girl in the woods shot I'm afraid I can't remember as I've found it on pinterest quite some while back, but the market shot is by Simon Weaner, a photographer.

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words! Now that you mention it, I've never actually realized that vice versa is just 3 syllables, also I don't mind the correction at all :)

"I am really not a teacher or anything like that", you are too modest, Guweiz. I think the most useful lessens I have learned have come from people who were masters or their art first. Because you can be the greatest teacher, if what you teach is not grounded in reality it will be of limited use. And I love how you say vice versa, you always pronounce the "e" one "vice," like "vicee" versa. But please dont feel self concious about it, it adds charachter to your singapur english dialect. (Dont worry by the way, your english is very clear and easy to understand.)

This is such a helpful follow up! May I ask what source the reference images of the close med lens (girl in the woods) and the far away wide lens (meat market) stem from so I can check out the movie or photographer or whatever :)

Thank you for this video! I’ve only started to watch it, but it seems extremely helpful, especially with provided exercise and check list
