Yeah, it's like how we call close friends who aren't blood-related cousins like in the show The Bear, or how we call older close people our Uncles and Aunties. Carol and Ko are not blood-related

There are a lot of ties/connections that don't have an English translation, so 'cousin' is used (which is obviously very confusing for Western audiences). They're not necessarily blood related; they could just share a connection via a family registry. Fruits Basket has the same issue; the Sohmas are a dynastic clan connected via family registry, but because Western countries don't have a similar concept, they keep using "cousin" because it's the closest word translators can find." TLDR: 'Cousin' isn't even the right translation, just the what crunchyroll deemed the closest. Ngl, kinda annoyed with cr for creating this massive misunderstanding about their relationship.
