What's New Roundup - September 2024

Spooky season has been slowly ramping up in energy over this last month, and in turn I have been powered up like one of those winding radios. Just getting louder and louder as time goes on. Here you can catch all my streams, voice work, and appearances for September.

P.S. Don't forget I'll be here on the 6th October - the first Sunday of the month - for the Necromancer Tier exclusive stream. See you soon my little patrelings x

Stream VoDs

Below you can find links to all my streams since last month's roundup that go up on my VoD channel, Ash Millman Lives. A little bit more Silent Hill, a full playthrough of Hollowbody and Mouthwashing, and the introduction of new monthly roundups edited together by long-time pal from WhatCulture Rich Hutson:

CAN YOU NAME EVERY DREAMWORKS ANIMATED MOVIE? | Survival Series

Another episode of CutScene Survival Series, another list of animated movies to pull from out my ass whilst slowly devolving into a feral creature. This time it's every DreamWorks animated movie, which means Shrek finally gets some respect in this godforsaken house. A joy to film and hang out with the gang, as always, and far less Serious Ash Fear (tm) than previously. I still get nervous! No matter how many years I embarrass myself online!

The NoSleep Podcast

This month I make a voice appearance in 'A Conversation with You-Know-Who', which you can access without a subscription on the link below. Surprisingly it is not about Voldemort and features my best crying mother impression, which I feel like I've managed to bag a few roles in since joining the pod. Love a good weep, me:

I have two curated playlists on Spotify that I keep updated with NoSleep voice work, with one for freely available episodes and one for paid episodes listed below. Just to note, paid episodes are ones I've appeared in but past the free listening point, so my contributions are only accessible for those that are NoSleep subscribers:

The Future Games Show Video Game Quiz Show!

More video game quizzes! More insanity! More SLIDE WHISTLES!!! Future Games Show got us together to play instruments, try to tell convincing lies, and answer quickfire gaming questions in the most unhinged quiz I've ever taken part in. My competitive nature doesn't do well in these situations but I think our team pulled it together (because they cut out all the bits of me shouting at Harrie about how we HAVE to win).

The Cellar Letters

Another horror fiction audio drama I'm a part of is The Cellar Letters, an ongoing series by Jamie Petronis that's full of short snappy instalments brimming with eerie tension. It's a pleasure to be a part of! I reprise my role as a therapist in one of this month's episodes:

Previous episodes I've appeared in are collected in a playlist as well as listed below:

The Substance screening

The sexiest, muckiest, most original horror movie I've seen in ages is out in cinemas at the moment: The Substance. Privileged to see the film in Battersea Powerstation fuelled by themed cocktails and a very bloody twist (as seen in the title picture)! The film is undeniably brilliant and tapped into that horrible black vein of self-loathing that's fuelled by the pressures of societal beauty standards and the resulting body dysmorphia so many women suffer with. It was gut wrenching, as someone that's struggled with looking in the mirror for so long, and cathartic, as someone that loves seeing guts spilled on screen. Seeing my fave Josh Brown was a big treat too. We are JB stans in this house!

The Static Sea experience

A rare picture with no link this month, but I simply have to share that I went to The Static Sea, an overnight immersive horror experience on a tiny Welsh island run by the brilliant Storm Jar. I'll have a reel and a YouTube video (gasp!) up on this experience and the magic of where games meet real life later in October, but for now enjoy me inadvertently looking my most Blair Witch ever, alongside one of the paranormal devices we were working with whilst out there. This was super special!

Speak No Evil screening

TERRIBLE PHOTO BUT A TREAT FOR PATREON!! The horror movie releases are coming thick and fast at the moment, and the new Speak No Evil (a remake of the very recent Danish movie of the same name) surprised me in like, a really good way. James McAvoy is outstanding, the new perspective from being set in the UK is clever and fresh, and the changes to the original storyline make for a whole new experience. You should still see the first one because it absolutely rules, but this is one of the very rare Good English Language Remakes. I don't say that very often!

Oh, and the screening itself was a cute little themed one with photo ops and farmyard tools from the film. They even had the table dinner set up from a scene, which was very weird to see before the film and then it made loads of sense after. Side note: never have I wanted to chew on plastic bread so badly.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Screening

The juice is loose once again, and the film is so full of feel-good fun that I can't really say anything about the lack of logic throughout. To be honest I think that locking in knowing you can never predict how anything will go makes it even better. The original film is king for me, but this is a sentimental companion piece that expands and builds on all the best bits of Tim Burton's 80s classic. Plus the practical effects!! Make me yell!!! With joy!!!!!!

Peace and love, blood and guts,

Ash xxx
