I after looking at it for a bit, this one is much more "wolf-like" than the old one. That being said, I actually really liked the old one as a generic canine. Definitely use it in the future for a domestic canine. Also, this new one looks....old? As in like he's in his late 40's early 50's. This isn't bad at all, and I kind of like the concept. But Idk if this was what you were going for

I am much more liking this variant :-). But if I were to add anything I'd say he needs a bit of chin fur along his lower jaw to make it stand out a little bit more. So far you're right on track there, Dogson :D

the more pronounced cheekbones and fewer tufts, in my eyes, gives quite a bit of age to the model. This new one looks kinda like some wise old sage figure. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. I Think the current one would benefits from having some more substance from the corners of the eyes backwards. Now that I think about, I wonder what this model would look like with a monocle.

This one looks more like a wolf, that's for sure. IMO both versions came out great, maybe the frist one can be used in making of next canine character? It would be a shame to waste such a good-looking muzzle.

I think the rest of the characters are already really smooth, so at least having the tufty version as a skin/hair option would be appreciated.

Definitely upgrade, only criticism is the small bright patches above his eyebrows, makes it look almost like he has two sets. Possibly just remove those and he'd be perfect imo.
