Yeah, Araki slapped Stands into the series to replace Hamon because, well, Hamon reached its limit with Perfect Kars. He had nothing left to do with it. He knew he either had to let Hamon continue on and get stale really fast, or do something entirely new and insane. So he took a chance, came up with Stands, and created the most popular series in Japan.
