Progress Report #13 - April 3, 2022

Hi, folks,

This week, as stated last week, was less rendering and more writing, maintenance and trying to get a grip on where we are at as far as completion. I also needed to finish up the customs for the month as well as rework the lighting in the bar to the shift to nighttime. So, a bunch of the less fun aspects of the job.

Puggy finished another animation for Scene 5. It's real purdy like. As I stated, last weekend I finished Sloane's intro. This week I needed to go back and add some pickup shots throughout the section to make things flow more easily and to fill out some of the choices available at this point. I tend to stick with the canon choices and finish the scene I'm working on and then go back and lay in the optional path renders afterwards. I've also gone through and spot rendered any poke through and clipping for the renders up to this point.

This week is a long conversation between the MC and some of the supporting cast establishing a few more through lines and backstory and then we get into the band performances. These will require a whole new set of skills than I've shown in these renders up until this point because, as we all know, stage shows use very apparent lighting. So, I'll need to switch from heightened/subtle realism to over-the-top lighting for that section. It's one of the parts I'm most looking forward to and am most afraid of. I've been working on trying to figure out a way to make the lighting stand out, without blowing out the characters and not increasing render times to drastic numbers off and on for a few months. I've got a pretty good idea of how to do it now, but I'm interested to see how to make it apply across multiple renders. Not just one angle. I'll make it work, as I always do. But, it's worth mentioning. There are a bunch of things that Puggy and I are still learning with this being our first game, and this is gonna be a big one for us. Once I have the science down on it, all subsequent concerts, etc. will be a lot easier. So, I'll have more on that next week or the week after, depending on how the conversation section goes.

With the stuff we did this week, I felt it was time to bring back the full breakdown so you all could see our progress. If you add up all the numbers below, it looks like we are about 60% done, but some of the scene that are left are much shorter than the ones we've already worked on (as you can see with scene 5, for example). My estimate would put as at closer to 75% completion overall, give or take a few points.

So, without further ado:

THE NUMBERS

Main menu:

Scene 1 - 99.3%

Scene 2 - 100%

Scene 3 - 98.75%

Scene 4 - 75.6%

Scene 5 - 35%

Scene 6 - 10%

Scene 7 - 23%

Scene 8 - 33%

Thanks you all, as always! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! I'll have the bi-weekly lewd render for the higher tiers later today.
