Personally, if it were within a few weeks or something, I could 1000% see myself agreeing to changing it, but at 4 months, the baby would already have a social security number issued and all that, so it'd be such a massive undertaking to change everything.

My parents decided to change my name after being requested due to the trauma it had caused that family friend however it was decided before I was born to change my name.

But also, idk if the baby's name needs to be changed, especially after 4 months, I think it could be reframed as a really nice way to celebrate and remember the SIL's baby. (and perhaps she could go through some therapy 😶)
