Bonded Souls
Olivia had been pestering me to face time all day and her spammed messages tell me that she's finally got annoyed with my lack of response. I do owe the girl my life, so I don’t really feel like I can ignore her indefinitely.
“Darn soul pack,” I whine as I juggle my warm microwave-ready meal with one hand and fumble my phone out with the other.
Setting the meal for one down my bedside table, I swipe open my phone to find reams of messages from her.
“Yes, yes….” I mutter as I read her repeated messages asking me to call her. “I wonder what's wrong now….?” I grumble as I get onto the bed and lean against the headboard.
Holding the phone up to my face as it dials her number, I rub my tired eyes and prepare myself for what's coming next.
You see, myself and Liv are in a very unique situation. To save my life, she sacrificed half of her life force and gifted it to me. This meant many things for us both and came with many interesting side effects, but essentially, I owe her my continuing existence.
“Simon!” Olivia growls as our video call connects. “What's taken you so long to answer!”
“Hey Liv,” I flippantly reply. “Sorry, I got out of work late.”
“I know what time you’re supposed to finish Simon,” she moans. “Where have you been?”
I couldn’t look at her image on the phone. Even though she was twenty minutes down the road, I felt like her glare was burning a hole right through me.
“I was……,” I hesitate. “Doing……. nothing…..”
“Don’t lie to me,” she retorts shaking her head. “You know the rules. As part of our soul bond, you are required to share everything with me!”
“I was…..,” I pause to look her straight in the eyes. “I’ve met a girl OK! We went out after work for a drink!”
“That’s great!” Liv cheers with a huge smile on her face. “Please tell me it’s the new girl in your office. Rachel right?”
I slowly nod in agreement as virtually high fives me down the phone.
“I love it when something new happens in our life!” Liv comments as I let out a sigh. “That settles it then.”
“No Liv,” I answer shaking my head. “We only did that last week. I’ve got a good thing going here.”
“We’ve!” she barks back with a frown on her face. “We’ve…. got a good thing going!”
“Right….right,” I reply with a nod of my head. “We’ve got a good thing going.”
I shuffle around awkwardly for a moment, knowing that I’m not going to be able to talk her down. Still, I had to try.
“So, maybe…..” I say gently to her. “We don’t.. have to this time. Maybe we can just talk about it when I get home of an evening.”
“Nope!” Liv swiftly replies. “It’s happening. Get used to it.”
“Come on Liv!” I plea. “Please!”
“No way!” she replies and points to her soulbond mark on her shoulder. “Let me meet her tomorrow and maybe it can just be a twenty-four trade.”
I really don’t want to. At this point, I wasn’t hiding the fact she’s annoying me. I let out a very obvious sigh.
“Simon…. grow up!” she growls. “I’m hanging up now, I will speak to you in the morning!”
“No…wait!” I cry.
No luck, she hung up on me.
Knowing Liv, she’s going to enact the trade straight away. That gives me thirty minutes to put everything in order before my body passes out. I look over at my steaming hot ready meal and huff in disappointment.
“So much for that,” I whine as get off the bed and look at my calendar on the wall.
Running my finger down the days, I let out a sound of relief. It’s not that time of the month and dam…. I was glad about that!
Before my thirty minutes is up, I have to get things ready. She likes me to have set out my schedule for the day and put out clean clothing. As annoying as that is, it does make it easier on me when she affords me the same luxury.
Rushing around and prepping the best I could, I give the place a quick tidy. Stuffing a few mouthfuls of my meal into my mouth, l get comfortable on the bed.
As I lay back with my head on the pillow, the familiar sensations flow over my body. This wasn’t the first time I’d felt the intense sucking, pulling at my entire body. Now It was like clockwork, I knew exactly what to expect.
As my eyes start to feel heavy, I hope to high heaven that she doesn’t mess it up.
The next morning, Liv’s alarm blares out at me from her bedside table. I’d asked her so many times to turn the volume down on her phone!
Sitting up and reaching over, I swiftly shut the darn thing up.
“Liv,” I whine as sit up and allow the sheets to fall from my body. “Really!?” I cry as I look down at myself.
I grind my teeth at the nightwear she’s decided to leave me with. I hated waking up in her body at the best of times, but I really didn’t apricate the lingerie she’s allowed me to wake in.
“Date night bra….” I grumble as I poke at Liv’s chest all standing to attention. “Darn girl!”
As annoying as waking up in sexy lingerie is, this wasn't the worst instance she’d put me in.
Having a one-night stand and then performing a soul transfer, so that she didn’t have to deal with the morning after, that’s the worst. I tell you if she hadn’t sacrificed so much that night…. I’d be sacrificing her for sure!”
Throwing the covers off and revealing the rest of my sexy red underwear, complete with suspenders and stockings, I amble over to her bathroom door.
I guess the one advantage of trading our bodies is that I don’t have to wake up with morning glory. As I pull my panties down and sit on the toilet, I smile at the fact that I can just sit straight down and relieve myself without that male hassle.
As I tinkle, I tuck Liv’s annoyingly straight brunette hair from my eyes. That’s when I see the note stuck to the back of the bathroom door.
“Meet me…,” I read the note with her chipmunk high-pitched voice. “at the café this morning for breakfast.”
“Sure…..” I say to myself with sarcasm as I pull my underwear back up. “I’d love to.”
Stepping back into her room, I untie her hair and allow her locks to drape over my bare shoulders. Spotting the clothing she’s set out for me to wear, I slouch in front of her mirror. Huffing again, I stare into the green eyes of my friend and contemplate my existence.
“Mornings…,” I whine as I pick her straighteners and turn them on. “You better have brought some new foundation. I’m not going to fight with the pot to get the last bits out again!”
Doing Liv’s makeup and hair had become almost a breeze. She’s given me many lessons over the last few years and I’d started to put my own flair on her usual makeup style. I liked giving myself mascara wings. Mostly because I knew she hated that look.
Once I’d got her hair all straight and up in a ponytail, I moved quickly on to her makeup. I wasn’t going to spend a huge amount of time making it perfect. Just looking at her face in the mirror was enough to make my blood boil. If she dared to ruin my new relationship, I’d be so cross!
Looking at the clock, I knew I didn’t have much time to get to the café. I need to get dressed pronto. Thankfully Liv’s preparation last night made it easy.
I was tempted to leave the sexy red stockings on for work today, but I knew that wouldn’t end well for me.
Once I’d got them off, I grab for the dress she’d selected for me. It’s a black pencil dress with long sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. Not really what I wanted to be wearing with her date night bra, but time was ticking.
Once I’d got the dress on and adjusted myself to get comfortable, I grab some socks from her draw.
“I’m not wearing these heels again,” I complain as I pick up the black high heels and toss them into my bag. “I’ve gotta talk to her about getting some smaller heels for me.”
Swinging open her closet, I take some running shoes out and quickly throw them on.
Standing at her bedroom door, I straighten my hair and grab her handbag.
“Darn girl!” I growl as fling open the door and rush to exit her apartment. “Some times I was you’d never save me!”
