2025-03-31 01:30:49 +0000 UTCAll land no matter whose it is. Is only yours as long as you can keep it. There were 1000s of different tribes taking land and having wars against each other. Why does it matter what ethnicity you are? The strongest will always win. Same as it has been for all human history. Only after the 2nd world War did the US set up a system where wars of conquest were illegal. Before that it was non stop war for territory. You're Romainian, didn't Romania steal Hungarian lands after ww1. Transylvania if I'm not mistaken. That was way after most countries stopped stealing land. So it is what it is.

2024-12-07 08:21:31 +0000 UTCI love this movie. Two Socks didn't run because of his loyalty and love, not because of the Indians. That scene broke my heart, and the goodbye at the end was also heartbreaking. Four hours is long, but I didn't care. I love movies that take place during the Civil War era, like Gone with the Wind and Glory (1989).

2024-08-13 02:43:14 +0000 UTCKicking Bird told Dunbar that he was thinking that of all the trails in life, there is one that matters most, and that is the trail of a true human being. I think you are on this trail and it is good to see....Well, I can see that you young Bisscute are on this trail too...and it is impressive to see because you are such a young person (here in America it is kinda rare to see that in our young people)....so keep to that Trail and you won't get lost....

2024-08-03 15:47:41 +0000 UTCI can't even find the 4 hour version available to buy or rent. Disappointed because I really wanted to watch this reaction.

2024-07-27 02:57:18 +0000 UTCI appreciate the time commitment to this one Biss, itβs a great story. I honestly have never heard of or seen the 4hr version of this before now. Other than seeing the Black Hills in this cut, which is a pretty unique place that I canβt imagine traveling through without a highway, I donβt think multitude of added wide shots much but time. The original length definitely flows better. Really enjoyed the reaction though.

2024-07-17 06:47:02 +0000 UTCThere's a version that should be available to you on Vimeo from the Indigenous Film Archive.

2024-07-15 22:37:52 +0000 UTCIt was originally the Comanche but was changed to the Lakota at some point for the movie. But, you're right about their reasoning for killing off the buffalo. Regardless, it was beyond wasteful.

2024-07-15 20:47:30 +0000 UTCI was the one who originally suggested it. Was unaware the 4 hour version was the only one available. Sorry about that. Absolutely agree the 4 hour one is too long and completely unnecessary.

2024-07-15 20:28:05 +0000 UTCI really like this movie and I voted for it, but the 4 hour version is too much for me. I even think the 3 hour version could be cut down a bit. Good for you for powering through, Biss. You're truly committed!

2024-07-15 20:14:03 +0000 UTCSo, you said βThe whites killed the buffalo for nothing.β This isnβt, technically, true. The industrial killing of the buffalo served several purposes. Primarily, the hides were used to make the belts used in factories that make the machines function. Secondarily, as the railroad stretched across the prairie, trains colliding with the huge animals was a problem. Further, the Plains Indiansβ economy was built on a grass-buffalo-horses basis. While the prairie stretches for hundreds of miles, studies have indicated that the ways Native tribes used their resources capped their populations. The Natives in this movie are the Lakota, the Northern Plains Natives centered in Montana and the Dakotas. The Southern Plains were dominated by the Comanche, the βLords of the Southern Plains.β As devastating as the Comanches could be to the Anglo settlers, the Mexicans and the Spanish before them, they never numbered more than about 32,000 people, total. This is at a time when America had learned how to put multiple armies of up to 100,000 soldiers in the field and supply them, essentially, indefinitely. By killing the buffalo for industrial purposes, it doomed the Plains Natives. It cut off their main food and fuel source.

2024-07-15 13:33:06 +0000 UTCThis is the first time I've watched the 4 hour version and can already tell it really does nothing for the movie. The whole first hour is a lot of filler, completely unnecessary and kind of strange in some parts. However once Dunbar actually gets to the fort it really picks up. From that point the movie is excellent and really beautiful. Thank you Biss for sticking through the beginning and watching this great movie.

2024-07-15 12:11:37 +0000 UTCThey called native Americans INDIANS for a simple reason. When the Europeans were trying to expand the spice trade and find other routes to sail to INDIA they went west eventually discovering North America. Because they though they found a new route to India they thought they were east Indians. And they continued calling them Indians even though they realized they were not the east Indians they thought they were.

2024-07-15 12:10:35 +0000 UTCThanks for doing this one Biss. I know the 4 hour run time wasnβt ideal, but I appreciate you taking the time to watch and react.π
