Even thou the Japanese mentality and military was racist and evil. As with every people, there was good Japanese soldiers to. I guess you want to take some time between war movie, but 'Letters from Iwo Jima' by Clint Eastwood is a good portray of this. And he even made a 'Flag of our Fathers' of the same event, but from the American pov. So that's quite interesting. About Pearl Harbor, the impression of the pilot warning the kids. Was put into the movie to ease the framing of the Japanese in the movie(to be politically correct). So historically inaccurate, but imo fair as it was done subtly. And because this isn't the focus of the movie.

Glad you watched this one, Red is real funny character, and he had a similar role in Black Hawk Down, he was the deaf guy. :) He is a man to ease the drama. This movie as drama / action i would rate it 8/10 But as historical correct. 2/10. This movie was never ment to be historical correct. "Danny" was also one of the main character in Black Hawk Down. The japanese always attacked fearless kamikaze style. They saw it the great honor for their country. Their planes Zero were fast and nasty. The hit on Pearl Harbor was a major hit for the Americans and the loss of the these massive battlecruisers became critical. Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a way to really end the war for good. But it was also a payback for Pearl Harbor. America enter the great war in a joint force with the Alliance against the Axis Power after this event. A dud is a bomb that doesnt explode. Actually a lot of the bombs dropped over Germany was duds and a lot are still hidden in the ground, they tend to be dug up by accident while doing Constructions and they are still dangerous

The japanese empire did not differentiate between soldiers and civilians. If you were not japanese they did not respect you and would not show you any mercy. They would not hesitate to kill you regardless if you had a weapon or not.

In terms of realism, it takes fake characters through actual pockets of WWII history so anyone angry at that wanted a documentaryβ¦ things that were real: the eagle squadron, the Japanese preparation and execution of the attack, the intelligence fumble because of codes, the two pilots that took off and shot down five Japanese planes (nominated for a medal of honor but reduced to distinguished service crosses because they βtook off without ordersβ), the Arizona sinking with over 1000 sailors (you can still visit the tomb above her in Hawaii today), and the Doolittle raid. They actually depicted the carrier being found early by a Japanese patrol boat causing the early launch of the raiders really well. So what there was a very cheesy love storyβ¦ I like cheese and I like history. So happy you liked this! Not a top ten or anything but a good watch. Great job!!
