Oppenheimer Full and Early

Comments

I give this 5 out of 5, but due to my education(and side reading a lot😂) I have been fascinated with this material for over half my life. Everything about splitting an atom has drawn my curiosity down many a rabbit hole. So to see this visual reckoning of that is almost on par with Interstellar’s grasp of a black hole and its singularity. But Interstellar was a better story with much more emotional storylines. Nolan’s genius rivals that like Oppenheimer imo💜

Atomic bomb after effects are much worse than conventional bombing, radiation poisoning, cancer deaths and thousands of people with their eyesight burned away by the initial blast.

OK my thoughts The acting is superb. Especially Robert Downey, his best performance so far. And Emily Blunt, I have always admired her, this performance as Oppenheimer wife is outstanding. Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock also stands out as incredible performance. Every actor/actress brought their best to those movie. At three hours in length, I didn't even notice 3 hours passed. The pacing of the story is perfect. Easy to get immersed in this. And the music is done so brilliantly since it keeps that sense of urgency and intensity throughout. It really keeps you engaged in what is happening and keeps the pace up. 5 out of 5, I really liked that the subject matter was not dumbed down for the audience. I certainly learned some more details of the situation, and while the science is very complicated, it was still necessary to present it as accurately as possible.

What's the difference of dropping 5000 conventional bombs on a city or 1 atomic bomb if they do the same amount of damage? The fire bombing of Tokyo a few months earlier killed 100k with much worse effects to the people than either atomic bombing. The destruction would have been the same regardless which weapon was used.

I love that Christopher Nolan shoots with film and he doesn't use CGI (most of the time). His films look incredible because of it. Personally, I think the overuse of CGI has made a lot of movies look more like a video game and it can take me out of it, sometimes. I know CGI can do great things, but I prefer the type of effects that filmmakers like Nolan use.

Hey it STOPPED WW2. It AMERICAN'S Dying in Japan, not.. where you from again. What did you do in WW2? Hmmmmmmmmmm nothing.

Jason Allen Wolcott

You should A Beautiful Mind with Russel Crowe, Gladiator actor. True story, great movie.

Good luck with that. I'm surprised there is as much information out there as there is.

The NAZIs had the lead in making their own atom bomb but they made 1 mistake. Like Matt Damons character suggested the NAZIs compartmentalized which slowed them down by having groups of people working separately not sharing information instead working together as one.

Comparing to Chernobyl that made me understand a nuclear reactor exploding and effects , then yes .

Still use communist as an insult to be fair.

"Dammit I happen to love this country" - "Then tell them to go to hell". My favorite line in this movie. There will always be power hungry kiniving people, everywhere. Good men stand on their convictions and he stood for what he believed in, despite the shortfalls the power hungry. McCarthy era was a weird one but he was a great American. While not entirely historically accurate, it did a good job showing the complexities of the man's morality. That's the only comment I got for this one.... also if you keep rubbing your hair when you get tense - it will all fall out haha.

Joe

As long as the 0.5 stars wasn't withheld because they didn't explain how to build a massively destructive bomb in simple terms. :-)

Saw this in imax. It was awesome. I haven't found a Christopher Nolan movie I haven't adored. His filming and music choices just hit my perfect style. I love that they don't do the boring trope of world class mind that is socially awkward and cringe. Oppenheimer is charming, socially adept and well spoken. The acting is great too. 10/10

If you like the visuals along with the music, you should definitely check out Koyaanisqatsi.

Tom Hartley

Hope it's better than Barbie! :)

Seeing this movie in an IMAX theater is a whole other experience

Being a Communist in the US during the Cold War was seen as being a traitor or criminal. I was born when the Soviet Union fell, but even in the 90s we always used communist as an insult or something you didn't like. Especially someone in a powerful position. With all the spies the KGB had in US institutions, the government didn't take any chances. Sadly Oppenheimer fell into this because of his brother and wife.

Never seen this, cant wait to watch it with yoi...I hope there's lots of ninja fights!!!
