it successfully deepens the characters of the Bennett parents, particularly Matty, making him more than just a one-dimensional antagonist to Ted's fun.

There's just something about looking at "Matty" with a Budweiser in his hand, lounging in his chair and realizing at any given moment he could bust out any Boyz II Men song and just crush it. haha
