Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) - Movie WATCH ALONG!!

Comments

I liked how this one was a lot more focused. The first three movies got more complicated as time went on, especially with all of the double and triple (and quadruple?) crossing, to the point that the plot really did get kind of muddy, especially for a first watch. The movies are still fun, very creative, entertaining, funny, heartfelt, everything a swashbuckling adventure should be... but I'll admit that everything falls into place a lot better on subsequent watches, which shouldn't always be the case. In contrast, this one was a nice self-contained adventure, though it did suffer from being scaled down. There weren't the usual multiple plot threads, though there was the dichotomy between Blackbeard's and Barbossa's crews both seeking the fountain (with the Spanish added in for good measure). Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz were great casting choices. Blackbeard as a character was really well done, and drew quite a lot from the mythology of the real Blackbeard, who was purported to employ trickery such as lighting fuses under his hat and in his beard to appear to be magically on fire, and other legends that sprung up about him. Obviously since this is the PotC universe, there is some "real" magic involved in his command of his ship, the famous Queen Anne's Revenge. There was great chemistry between Jack and Angelica have great chemistry, and Barbossa's development makes sense.. he doesn't just randomly join the Royal Navy; he has a real, selfish (though arguably righteous) motivation behind his actions. Overall, to quote Aaron -- "it was fun". I think not as "good" of a movie as the third Pirates (certainly not as good or fun as the first two) but definitely more fun and easier to follow than 3, with smartly developed (if at times, predictable) characters, a natural development of Jack's character to being ever-so-slightly less selfish, though the movie is still sorely missing much of the regular crew. Even without Elizabeth and Will, who have basically completed their arc and I understand not including, it would have been nice to see more of the familiar faces return. Not to mention the fact that the Black Pearl itself, the ship that started the entire series, is missing entirely from the movie except for a few fleeting seconds inside of a bottle!

This 100% 👏🏼 I’m so sick and tired of reading complaints from people here because things are a little different here. I love it here. I love every team member. Thats a rarity with channels with more than two people. I feel SO BAD that I can’t afford to support Tara on her own Patreon as well as supporting everyone here. At the end of the day, the Rejects are here to entertain us. If they don’t vibe with a movie, that’s not a personal attack on those of us that love it. I LOVE TARA’s ‘writing it down right now!’ attitude. Honestly, stop stealing the joy from others. This is basically the first time they’re watching it. Some of us have watched these movies a dozen or more times. Of course we notice more things. There’s a lot going on. Sorry for the rant reply.

Awww you guys with that opening! 😭 I think we as patreon supporters have to also remember that we are here to support YOU and that includes your highs and your lows (because if we don't love you at your worst then we don't deserve you at your best) but I follow a few people on here as well and some patreon supporters I've seen in comments act (not necessarily with the RR nation) like the patreon creators are in their control when it's supposed to be support we are giving you to help you in supporting the content you are creating to make sure you're able to keep continuing on creating it and with that said the only disappointment I felt with "At World's End" was it was on Vimeo I'm still mad at them for what they did to your older reaction videos a while back so that was my only discretion involving that reaction lol love always!! Now onto continuing this reaction I gooooo!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
