I very much disagree with the notion that Matt's faith is not present in the show. I think it is ever-present, in a very inteligent way.
There was a scene in one of the earlier episodes of Matt, standing alone in a courtroom, choral music playing in the background – it directly mirrors similar scenes of him in a church. The idea being that Foggy's death took not only Daredevil, but also trust in God, replacing it with trust in the law and thejustice system. And then, once the law isn't bringing justice anymore (Hector's death), Matt's beginning to let God in again.
You've probably missed it but Matt isn't reading (and later thinking of) Bible in this episode. He's praying with the Litany to Saint Yves (Ivo of Kermartin), patron saint of lawyers. He's asking God to let him be "the friend and advocate of the poor" by being a lawyer, not by being the Daredevil. In my opinion it's very reminiscent of Jesus praying in Gethsemane to "let this cup pass from me".
So, the faith isn't gone. It's very much present in its absence, and it's 100% deliberate.

I mean....... just plain awesome. I wanted to say that I thought Muse was supposed to have like, Jessica Jones level of strength (he does carry bodies quite a distance after all)? BUT the show must be taking that aspect of his character in a different direction which is their prerogative. The fight was amazing. Can't wait to see Frank destroy that, uhm, highly motivated task force.

So, like, Muse is definitely that guy that talked to Matt's girlfriend at her book signing, right?

Great reaction!
This is just my opinion but I personally think we did get the cool suit moment. I didn’t find it rushed
Like personally I don’t really need to see him get dressed
But they did a cool thing where he’s running across the rooftops with the camera pulled back. A tease. Paired with episode 4 showing the helmets and him practicing with the Billy clubs.
And then he jumps into full view of the camera. I think that *is* the shot.
And then another one happens later in the episode. He runs across the train tracks. We can’t see him that well. He fights muse for a bit. In shadow.
Then he’s illuminated with a slow pan up and then showing his helmet
I felt that *was* the suit shot. We got two of them. So i personally feel it drawn out rather than rushed lol. Maybe it’s just me.
I totally get what you mean though. Like we could’ve seen the slow suit shot (similar to the desdpool suit up from desdpool 3, albeit this show wouldn’t make it comedic) and THEN see him run across the rooftops
But I liked the sense of urgency of him needing to get to the train as soon as possible. so we just cut to him running. but then he jumps towards the camera
Maybe in isolation it’s not perfectly executed but I think paired with episode 4, showing the helmets, showing his practicing.I think that made this episode work better. Knowing he still has his suits
I do definitely agree though about wishing muse was more set up. A few lines of dialogue existed. But I really wish the missing people was truly a presence in the first 5 episodes
It could’ve even came up during white tiger’s trial. Like it could’ve been a point of the defence “there are more people going missing in this city every day than ever before and you’re beating down a confidential informant”. I’m not a writer lol but something like that
It’s definitely implicitly implied. Like Fisk cutting police overtime and such 100% contributed to the police being ineffective of tracking down or knowing about muse. But it’s not overt.
You were definitely right that the Netflix show used lighting to make the city feel crime ridden. Dirty.
We get a couple of B roll shots of garbage on the streets, but that’s just regular New York lol. if it weren’t for the BB report (which I love), we as the audience wouldn’t really feel the absence of daredevil being a bad thing
I am interested about the swordsman. Because his fiancé was working for/with fisk due to her original husband’s debt to the mob.
And she went to jail over it.
Now he’s a vigilante, but also knows fisk on a first name basis and is connecting with him from the rich elite side of him
I’m curious if it’s public knowledge or if he knew why his fiancé (Kate’s mom) was working for fisk. He definitely didn’t seem friendly with fisk
I’m really enjoying this season but I do see some of the points you’re making as well!
