Poll Results!

A warm welcome to all of you! Hope you're having a wonderful day.

Today's poll results are for our latest question: Should I go along with my plan of having Jacob dip his toes into darkness?

And we have indeed reached an answer through your voting. Well, without further delay, here goes:

You do what you want Author, we're here to read your story: 80%

No! It's too cliché and stupid. Don't do this author, you'll end up ruining the story!: 20%

....Thus it's decided! I'm going along with my plan.

Now the main concerns that were raised against it, were about it either not feeling natural, Jacob becoming irredeemably dark, or it being too cliche or hateful. I think I may have fucked up slightly when describing my exact plans (tho I can't reveal much without spoiling it all). By going dark I didn't mean his personality will take a sudden dip into the well of sins, nor that he will start slaughtering and raping people.

I meant the edgy kind of darkness that most of the entitled teens goes through. You know, the angsty kind, where you think the world has wronged you gravely, and everyone is standing against you, and you're all alone fighting against the tide. It's almost a teenage phase really. I'm talking about that kind of darkness. Not the evil kind. Jacob won't just start scheming the deaths of his family or anything. He will still just be an angry teen trying to figure out the world, having made some stupid mistakes.

And yes, he will be redeemable. Honestly, there won't even be anything to redeem. All he'll need is to do is get back to his senses and think logically. Unfortunately, that isn't something most 14 year olds are capable of doing. But with experience and maturity, they can.

Also, those who voted for no, I hope you weren't actually serious about this being an instant deal breaker. Jacob's fate shouldn't be important enough to ruin the entire story for you.

Honestly, Jacob's pov should actually be pretty fun to read. The things that I've planned for him aren't going to be constant grim and pain, mostly just eye-opening things. His character arc will bring him right back along the path, hopefully as a much better, and mature, young man.

Well, that's all for the results.

If anyone's curious on my current reading material, I've just started the first book of Stormlight archive- The way of the kings-from Brandon Sanderson a few days ago, and am now half-way through it. It's an epic high fantasy with multiple lead characters, and a massive amount of world building. And no, it's not a fanfiction lol. Honestly, I doubt most of you would enjoy it. It's not meant for light reading and is certainly not the least bit wish-fulfillmenty. It also puts more emphasis on characters and world building than plot or action.

If you are looking to read something that's not fanfiction however, I would recommend Bloodsong (DO NOT TOUCH THE SEQUELS) or King killer chronicles.  Both are my personal favorite, and I could only hope to create a story like this in the near future (tho obviously, with my own flair).

On the fanfiction side, I unfortunately don't have anything that I remember currently. You can join the discord and ask there though.

Anyway that's all for today. I'll be back tomorrow with a new poll.

Till then, stay safe and take care. Peace!

Thank you for the clarity and that does not sound bad at all.
