2023-02-03 17:48:47 +0000 UTCI’m super late but I just grabbed your patreon to watch all your Mac reactions uncut How i interpret the synth ending on so it goes is the ascension of a high on drugs. Beginning of 2009 is orchestral, the true innocence of hope, the end of so it goes is the synthetic version of that hope. The drugs. You’ll also notice the synths overpower the end of the song. I interpret that as the drugs over powering whatever positive mantra Mac was trying to tell himself. The entire album is him being realistic about where he was. hopeful and at times desperate to get past it. But in his heart he knew the drugs would over power all of that. In different songs he references how good that high is and how almost worth it it is. That over powering synth is that high in my opinion Just my theory listening to it stoned lol

I started listening to Mac Miller when I was 17 and he was 18 and he had just dropped KIDS When he passed, I was genuinely distraught, yes I had never met him of course but because of our ages and how each and every single album he dropped seemed to mirror the exact same place I was in life. When he dropped Swimming I obviously loved it and I listened to it non-stop. But since he passed, I haven’t been able to get through the entire album until I was listening with you guys. Wept like a baby on 2009 but it was really cathartic. Thank you thank you thank you!!

Mac obviously was excecutive producer on the whole album but he chooses an allstar crew to collaborate with, which in my opinion is what makes a truly great artist.

Mac’s love for his craft oozes out of his work and is infectious to the listener. I love Mac’s discography but something about this album always hits differently.
