Signing The Arc - Chapter 1
Added 2023-10-02 00:46:49 +0000 UTCSo this was a thing I started ages ago and posted the first chapter on at fanfiction.net. I ended up not being too happy with it because it felt...well too overpowered as a start compared to Yarden. A buddy and a few others though have all but been begging for me to continue it or do a different Arc-V story cuz they want to cuck Yuya and get the bracelet girls.
I'm torn on whether to continue it or try a new approach like maybe a guy who ended up there with his Duel Linkz deck or something, so I figured I'd leave it up to you guys to decide for me, cuz I love delegation.
Also here, have a Yuzu:

All things considered, I hadn't really put much thought into what would happen when I died. There was only a few logical options to pick from really. Either the pearly gates, or the burning pit and pineapples up the ass. Or well, the most logical being total and utter cease of being. Just nothing.
So when I stumbled while walking across the road after an exhausting day of school and working to try and get somewhere with my life. The last thing I expected, after a speeding truck plowed into me and splattered me all over the road, was to find myself waking up ever again, and especially not hunched over in a black inky void of utter darkness.
The only light at all, coming from a massive pit of neon glowing green light. And within it? A titanic sized bird, entirely jet black of body and feather except for luminescent glowing purple tattoo like markings.
And nearly most odd of all. It being a bird I recognized. A condor actually.
"Finally awakened have you?" The Earthbound Immortal, Wiraqocha Rasca spoke, a deep rumbling, imperiously intimidating voice echoing all around me and within my very mind.
"W-what the hell?" I stumbled to my feet in a daze. This, can't be real, can it? This just has to be some figment of my imagination running through my head while my blood oozes out of my body and I die, right?
"Fool, get a grip of yourself," Wiraqocha Rasca scoffed, "As if the great me, strongest of the Immortals, could be a lowly figment of imagination to some human!" its shining yellow-gold eyes flared even brighter.
And suddenly, a burning pain appeared on my right arm, a hiss leaving my lips. I looked down, to see purple light appearing on my forearm and spreading out until the outline of a glowing royal purple condor tattoo stared back at me.
I gaped. "...No, way!" I hissed. I shouldn't be feeling pain in a hallucination or dream-like state, right? I think at least.
Is this real!?
"Did I not tell you to get a grip of yourself, human?" it demanded.
I swallowed heavily and clenched my fists together, and as I did, the burning feeling in my arm faded away, and an almost euphoric sensation rushed through me.
..I felt good actually. Really good. I felt strong even. And I could feel something deep, dark and powerful rumbling within me.
Now that I think about it. This, was good actually, wasn't it? I mean, I was definitely gonna die. Without ever having made anything of myself really. I was just some no name fourteen year old orphan. I worked a milk run four times a week, went to school through the day, then worked a part time job at a local take away. I was actually just on my way home from another exhausting day...when my legs gave out beneath me from exhaustion and I my good old friend the truck punished me for it.
..If this is real, and I'm thinking it is, then...I've just ended up right in front of a Yugioh monster, that has made me its avatar and gave me power. Being a Dark Signer is way more appealing than going back to my life.
No, wait. I shook my head.
This came with a catch! The Yugioh 5D's anime had finished not long ago and I had binge watched it while I had a week off of school just last month.
I looked up into the glowing golden eyes of Wiraqocha Rasca, "I'm not gonna try and kill the signers like Yusei for you, or sacrifice innocent people to you." I stated. I don't know where the strength is coming from to actually outright say this to my meal ticket and get out of death free card, but I had it, and I didn't want to do that shit.
"Hmph, good you have steel to you," Wiraqocha Rasca snorted and shook its massive head from side to side,"Calm yourself boy, there is no need for any of that. There are no signers anymore. Nor are there any other of my brethren active. Even my father, the great and mighty King of the Netherworld has disappeared."
I breathed a sigh of relief. Before its words caught up with me. Wait, what!?
"The world has changed, the very dimensions have been ripped open, and I am but a shadow of my former self," Wiraqocha Rasca continued, enrapturing me, "I need a signer to reclaim my power and put a stop to whatever nonsense has occurred. You just so happen to have fit my needs."
I'm totally lost. "What do you mean?" I asked, confused.
"I know little. Only that some powerful force destroyed the very fabric of space and time while I was recovering after that fool Rex Goodwin was crushed by the Signers, keh, serves him right for trying to use the power of a signer to make the great me submit!" Wiraqocha Rasca growled, "I was torn apart in the process, barely even awake at the time. I suppose I should pay some thanks to that fool though, it was thanks to the power of the Crimson Dragon I managed to absorb part of that I survived and managed to pull myself together, even if in this pitiful state."
Wait, wait, wait! So this is after 5D's then? And from the looks of things, some crazy big bad must have done something stupid like maybe the opposite of when Yubel tried to use Super Polymerization to fuse the thirteen dimensions together?
"Hmm, your knowledge of past events I was not awake for are surprisingly useful," Wiraqocha Rasca hummed, "Choosing you to be my partner was indeed the right choice. As always, the judgement of the great me is impeccable!" the giant bird spirit barked out an air rumbling series of pride filled chortles.
Partner, not minion? That didn't seem right.
"Is that so hard to believe, Jared?" Wiraqocha Rasca snorted, "Twice now, myself and my brethren have been bested by the signer dragons and their partners. Clearly, they are on to something, it was not superior power that allowed them to overcome us after all."
Before I could respond, the titanic condor continued on, "And loathe as I am to admit it, I must rely on you," it strained against the chains binding it and huffed, "I am bound still, and weaker than ever before. It has taken much of my strength just to bring you here and make you into my Dark Signer."
"What do you want me to do?" I asked after a moment of thought. In the end, it truly was the only option here. And, honestly, if it doesn't want me to go sacrificing humans and killing the signers so it can take over the world, I don't really have a problem with this. And it's not like I have anyone waiting for me back home. Perks of being an orphan and all. Nobody to miss you, or miss in return.
"Fight and win. Grow stronger and allow my own strength to return through our symbiotic link," Wiraqocha Rasca replied, before a snarl tore from its beak, "And find the fool who destroyed the world, and we shall destroy them together and take their power together for ourselves, I shall have us surpass Yusei Fudo and that wretched Stardust Dragon!"
Right, that sounded simple enough. Just duel over and over huh? And become stronger. By that, I assume it meant duelist energy, or Ener-D. And then when I find out whatever antagonist fucked everything up, I just have to beat them and let Wiraqocha Rasca do his thing then?
"Wait," I blinked as something important occurred to me, "What about a deck?"
"I have already taken care of it," Wiraqocha Rasca gave a single nod, "I brought along the cards you had on your body when you were killed, and added what I dragged with me when I left Rex Goodwin behind."
...Wait, my deck? But it wasn't even finished yet and just a rough set of cards threw toge-
Just then, my vision tinted with bright glowing royal purple light. And I was no longer standing in the void before the pit containing Wiraqocha Rasca, but in the middle off a rather clean alleyway.
Dick move Rasca!
I took a moment to gather my bearings. When I did, I gave myself a look over and noticed I was dressed in the same clothes I had been when I died. A simple pair of black boots, dark jeans and a sleeveless hoodie. The day had been pretty hot so I'd dressed light.
In my pockets, I had my wallet, my phone, house keys and my deck box that I'd with me. Which, were pretty much useless to me, except the deck box.
Quickly, I flipped it open and started looking through it. Red-Eyes Black Dragon had always been my favorite monster, and obviously I'd be collecting cards for it, plus a dew others that caught my eye. And as expected, the cards I'd been collecting for a specific deck stared back at me. Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon, Black Dragon's Chick, Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon, Red-Eyes Wyvern, Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Void Ogre Dragon, Dragonic Knight, The Black Stone Of Legend...
'Wait.' I blinked as I passed by that last card, they were kept in no particular order right now, but I spotted something odd about it immediately.
Since when is the Black Stone Of Legend, a Tuner monster!? And what is up with its effect?
'This card is always treated as a "Red-Eyes" card.
You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 Level 7 or lower "Red-Eyes" monster from your Deck. this card is in your Graveyard: You can target 1 Level 7 or lower "Red-Eyes" monster in your Graveyard, shuffle it into the Deck, and if you do, add this card to your hand. Once per turn, this card can target another card on the field and switch levels or rank with it. Should a synchro monster be summoned with this card, if the other material was a 'Red-Eyes' monster, that synchro monster gains half of that 'Red-Eyes' monsters attack points added to its own.'
It can switch levels with another monster, and basically gives Strong Wind Dragon's attack power boost if used with a Red-Eyes monster for a synchro. That is overpowered!
This has to be Wiraqocha Rasca's doing!
Quickly, I started flipping through my cards again. And I noticed, there was a bunch of Earthbound Immortal card support, from spells, to traps, to even some monsters.
Hell, I even had Sun Dragon Inti and Moon Dragon Quilla! And, the card fame for Moon Dragon Quilla, was a dark, blackish grey. It was a Dark Synchro! And One Hundred-Eyes Dragon too! Though it's effect is a little different from the anime one. Instead of getting the effects of all dark monsters in the graveyard, it 'only' gets the effects of all dark dragon monsters in the graveyard.
'I can get both of these out easily with Red-eyes and Red-Eyes Darkness!' I realized a moment later. Dark Synchro was just as easy as normal Synchro Summoning, only in reverse. You subtracted the level of the tuner monster from the other monster or monsters used to reach negative levels. Sun Dragon Inti is a level eight, one up from Red-Eyes Black Dragon at level seven, and the Black Stone Of Legend is level one. While Moon Dragon Quilla, is a negative level six and One Hundred-Eyes Dragon a negative level eight!
Finally, I came to the final card at the back. Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca.
"What the fuck is this!?" I gaped down at the card.
What in the world is a Pendulum monster? And what is with these effects? Wiraqocha doesn't have his anime ability to make the opponents life points one, but it also isn't as nerfed as the one from my world that got released. And, what is wit this absurd other 'Pendulum Effect'.
'Pendulum Effect: Once per turn, you can return one card from your graveyard or banished zone to your hand. Once per turn, you can negate the activation of any trap, spell or monster effect and if you do, destroy that card. You can special summon this card from the Pendulum Zone by tributing two or more monsters. For each dark monster used for this summoning, this card gains 300 ATK points.'
Pendulum Zone? Does that mean there's new monster zones or something? Is this a new summoning mechanic? I'd heard there was supposed to be a new one getting released with the new Yugioh anime series coming out soon back home, was it this?
As I was checking it over, I noticed something else. Black Dragon's Chick, it was different as well. The card name was 'Red-Eyes Black Chick' in full. And it was a Pendulum monster as well! And on top of that, its normal effect had changed a bit as well!
I shook my head and put it out of mind. No matter how crazy the effects on the cards were. First things first, I need to find out where the hell I am and get my hands on some funds. Somehow, I don't think the money I've got in my wallet will be worth all that much here.
The problem was. 'How do I go about that?' I wondered, pursing my lips.
'Just hypnotize a local human,' Wiraqocha Rasca's voice resounded within my my mind, 'It is one of the powers I have bestowed upon you such as reinforcing the strength of your physical body, as long as they are not of a very high strength of will, it should be easy.'
That's right, the spider guy who summoned Uru had mind control powers. So I did to, to an extent then? I suppose anything I saw the Dark Signers do in 5D's I should be able to more or less replicate?
'Of course you can, do not think your powers will be any less than theirs, weakened or not, I am the strongest of my siblings!' Wiraqocha Rasca scoffed.
Hoh? That was very good to know. "What about the bike?" I asked aloud, eagerly. Both Kalen and Carly had shown the ability to summon D-Wheel's of some form.
'As I said, do not think your own power as a Dark Signer will be any less than those made by my weaker siblings, do you not listen?' Wiraqocha Rasca huffed in annoyance, 'The power within you, it is instinctual, reach within yourself and feel it, command it to do as bidden, rule over it!'
Right, sounded simple enough.
I felt for that deep, dark power pulsing within me. As I mentally touched upon it, I felt that same euphoria of strength rush through me and I felt inky darkness bleed into the whites of my eyes. I lifted my hand, pointing at the ground in front of me, "Come." I commanded, picturing what I wanted.
Purple flame surged into existence in front of me, swirling up out of the ground and from it, a huge black D-wheel appeared in front of me, emblazoned with the markings of Wiraqocha Rasca in royal purple, wing-like extensions extending from the sides of the seat and flaring backwards.
I massive grin split my face and I hopped on it, allowing the purple flames to disappear. "This is so cool!" I gushed as I gripped the handles and rev'd the engine. It thundered like a monster.
'Now, let's take a tour of the city and find a hotel and see about getting some place to stay for now.' I mused. It shouldn't be too hard with hypnosis right?
________________
Surprisingly, beyond a few looks, nobody seemed at all bothered about me riding a massive motorcycle around. If I got stopped, I was planning on trying out the hypnosis powers to see how they did.
Wiraqocha Rasca warned me that it wouldn't let me make someone my slave or anything, but merely make them much more suggestive and willing to do as I was told. Which was why anyone with a strong enough mind could shake it off. Though. for simple things, it should get the job done.
I found out, that...I was actually in a place called Miami City. Not the Domino City I was familiar with from the anime. It was a massive, massive city. Big enough to house millions with ease, and yet, everywhere I went. People were dueling, and duel monsters were being advertised.
Hell, there were legitimate massive broadcast screens over simple card shops showing off new duel monster cards.
I passed by one showing off some crazy new Cyber Dragon monster. It looked epic, and had something to do with XYZ-Dragon Cannon I think. It was like a merger of Chazz's machines and Zane's! It would probably be stupidly strong.
Not only that, but the duel disks. They were crazy compared to the ones I saw in the anime before. Literal high tech terminals with hard light functions, and the ability to connect to the internet, make phone calls and more.
Everyone I saw had one. Even people not dueling were using them for every day things. It was mind boggling. Like, before in the anime duel monsters had pretty much taken center stage. But now, it was literally at the center of everyone's lives and ties into literally everything!
It was surreal, and quite a lot to take in. And, I honestly had no idea where I was going to start at this point when I tried to find out what the hell happened and fine this antagonist cunt that Wiraqocha Rasca warned me about.
At the very least, getting a hotel room wasn't very hard. It had been quite easy actually to make the manager think I had paid when I hadn't. All 'these are not the droids you are looking for' style.
Reclining back on the bed within my hotel room, my hands linked behind my head I stared up at the ceiling, "Right, I need to find a way to get a Duel Disk, and for that, I'm gonna need money." I mused.
Or well, I could probably just get one for free from any shop selling them with my hypnosis. But I don't want to abuse it to outright, or someone will eventually catch on.
I'll just use it for the basic shit I need to start off with right now like the Duel Disk I suppose. I'll need to find a good and easy way to make money. 'I wonder if there's any tournaments going on where I can compete for cash prizes?' I wondered idly.
With how popular duel monsters was. Surely there was?
My best bet I suppose, is the place that sticks out like a sore thumb even in a city like this Miami. LDS. Otherwise known as the Leo Duel School corporation. It was the biggest well known school in regards to dueling from what I picked up - weirdly no mention of Duel Academy - and was at the very center of Duel Monsters itself. They apparently not only produced all official duel monsters cards, but also more or less, all of the technology linked to it.
And perhaps the craziest thing of all. The ones who created True Solid Vision. The ability to summon actual physical, hard light monsters and interact with them through a duel disk. Something that had very much become mainstream in a new form of dueling, called Action Duels.
It was actually pretty hardcore from some of the advertise trailers I saw.

Okay this is a good story

2024-01-09 16:59:14 +0000 UTCWhile I like the idea, like many other, I have only watched until end of 5D (so round about the World Cup in new domino city against the mechlord imperator monsters). I found the intro and idea very interesting. So maybe change the story a bit? Like, you could make a βrogueβ dark signer who would go against the signers and occasionally helps them?

2023-10-03 20:12:35 +0000 UTCfrankly as long as the stories entertain me, i dont care what you put out, though i will say systematic shinobi, even further beyond, that oc/half-insert dxd story are ones i really look forward to reading

2023-10-02 01:26:42 +0000 UTCYou could redo it and make him a Signer, like split Jack's wings and make two marks out of them like how the talons are. Maybe give him a Speedroid deck that would work well for 5ds, the Red-Eyes deck isn't bad though. But making him a sane/in control Dark Signer seems too OP. Not saying that it would be possible as the story progresses but having it right out of the gate is a bit much.

2023-10-02 01:20:46 +0000 UTCI like the gx story you have and would be up for a second. Not sure about this one because I have less attachment to arc v than any other series. I think a reboot may be a good idea rust to smooth things out

2023-10-02 01:13:49 +0000 UTCI think arc v has a lot of potential for a story but I do agree that the mc seemed too overpowered and bland. I don't have a problem with the name though. Since I've recently been giving thoughts about decks that would be interesting to use in arc v, I'd suggest a Noble/Infernoble Knights deck. It can synchro and xyz summon and there are some generic fusion monsters you could tech in if you wanted to.

2023-10-02 01:03:17 +0000 UTCI voted for continuing it as it is but I'm fine with a reboot either way - I'm biased as I would love to see an arc-v fic going. Also for the other patreons: Jord's muse is fickle as we know, so we might as well vote on if we like ideas rather than anything else, considering he will write what he feels like writing at the end of the day.
