The Fairies Tail - Chapter 12
Added 2022-04-14 22:42:12 +0000 UTCBefore you even really realized what you were doing, you pulled one of the empty lacrima from your Requip space and began storing the residue magic the dragon's charred and flaking remains were giving off.
Bit by bit, small dots of black lit began to fill the clear orb, congregating and swirling together like a whirlpool that ever so slowly expanded over the course of a few moments, until the once clear orb was pitch black.
And not a moment too soon, because just as the lacrima filled up fully, the remains of the dragon fully flaked away and blew away in the wind.
For a few moments you just stared at the lacrima, pulsing with the power of darkness. Second generation Dragon Slayers were well documented. Especially because God Serena was known to collect dragon lacrima to implant within himself, and was the reason why he was the strongest mage on the contintent.
A god slayer and a dragon slayer huh? A dragon god, despite the situation, a little smile tugged at your lips. You kinda liked the sound of that.
"Looks like a darkness dragon lacrima," the familiar voice of the pink haired woman spoke up behind you, the sound of boot walking over stone sounding in your ears, "That could be really powerful. The old boss of Oraceon Seis used plain old dark magic and he was easily on the level of the Wizard Saints."
That you already know about. You used to guard over Oraceon Seis at times, your favourite of the bunch to talk to were Cobra and Angel, or Sorana as she told you her real name was. They told you quite a bit in your time with them. "I know." you replied simply.
"I suppose you would Cobalt," she responded, she peaked over your shoulder and looked at the gem in your hand. Interesting, she knows who you are, "Want me to implant it in you?" the bubblegum haired girl asked.
"Why are you helping me?" you asked instead of answering her question. Sure it was possible she knew you from the recordings of your demolition of Twilight Ogre, but it felt like there was more to it.
She twirled around to your front to face you and smiled brightly, "I suppose you could say I owe Fairy Tail a decent bit, me and my friends," she tapped her chin, "I suppose it's only polite to introduce myself right? My name is Meredy, formerly of the guild Grimoire Heart."
..Huh. That, you didn't expect.
She wasn't that much older than you by the looks of it, a few years, two or four at the most. She would have been what? Between nine and twelve? You couldn't really fault a child for being pulled into something like that.
You staunchly ignored the fact you were a Rune Knight by nine yourself. Plus, she did save your life when you were acting like a complete dumbass. So some trust in her was warranted at this point.
"My name's Cobalt, but you already know that," you replied. You debated internally for a moment before shrugging and lifting the dragon lacrima up, "If you want to help me, I won't stop you. It'll save me time if you can just put it in right now."
Meredy giggled, taking the lacrima out of your hand gently, "Well I'm the one who works as the healer in my guild, I learned how to do this because the magic for it can be quite handy," the pink haired girl smiled brightly, before pressing her hand and the lacrima against your chest, "Brace yourself, this is pretty high quality stuff and filled with the power of a dragon at that. It's going to sting a bit."
Then before you could ask what she meant by that - having never needed to get a lacrima implantation yourself - her hand shimmered with magic power, before phasing through your chest and sinking inside of you. "GKH!" you grit your teeth to stop yourself from moaning like a little bitch in pain as agony rippled through your body, and felt as your magic container spasmed.
As soon as it started it was done, and you relaxed a bit, sweat dripping from your brow as Meredy pulled her hand from your chest, and you felt the darkness dragon lacrima meld with your ethernano container.
"There ya go, easy peasy," Meredy chirped, dusting her hands off, "Give it a few minutes to merge with your existing magic container and you should be fine to use it."
"Gah " you grunted as a sudden searing pain assaulted you. Your eyes sharpened, everything becoming crisper with a sudden clarity you never noticed before. Smells becoming more potent, your skin very skin tingling as magical energy from the lacrima fused to you infused itself through it.
The worst of it all though, was the pain in your mouth. Your canine teeth lengthened and sharpened.
And then before you could stop it, your magic swirled up and exploded out of you. A massive raging aura of sea green infused with crackling black lightning and roaring dark flame.
"Woah!" Meredy jumped back to avoid the force it gave off with its sudden appearance.
Your arms blurred, and then black scales covered them entirely, your fingernails sharpening into thick sharp claws.
Words appeared in your head, as if by magic, "Darkness Sea Dragon God Mode...." you muttered.
"Hey hey hey!" Meredy waved her arms to get your attention and pointed down at the ground, "Reign it in! Look at what your doing!"
Clenching your fists hard, you spared a glance at the ground, and to your surprise, the ground around where you were standing was buckling from the sheer weight of your magical aura, caving downwards and creating a circular trench around your position which was getting bigger and bigger by the second.
You tried to reign in your power. But it was too wild, too powerful. You had to bleed some of it off! You angled your head towards the sky and drew in a massive breath.
"..What are you doing!?" Meredy asked in a panic, red eyes going wide.
You threw your head upwards and released the magic within you from your mouth, "Darkness Sea Dragon God's Bellow!" you bellowed.
What you released could barely even be described. It was a spiralling compressed tsunami of ebony black black sea water, with a thick cloying darkness spiralling the opposite way around it.
And it was so big you could scarcely believe it, larger and thicker than even the biggest train your family owned. The sheer power behind it tore the clouds from the sky as it passed through.
But it was enough, you dropped to one knee, panting deeply, sweat trailing down your face as the raging aura of sea green and inky black darkness receded back inside your body.
"Jeez, what insane power!" Meredy shook her head, "I know Dragneel did something similar to beat Master Hades, but I think you have him beat. I don't even know if Bluenote could have taken an attack like that, our old Jupiter Cannon would have been overpowered by it."
"....It's still not enough," you shook your head, "Compared to the power that darkness dragon put out just by existing, I'm still woefully weak. I've gotta get way stronger if I wanna take down Acnologia."
Despite that though, a grin formed on your face, "What's with the smile on your face with all that heavy depression talk?" Meredy asked with a blink.
You shrugged, you couldn't help being happy with what you'd gained today, "I might not be anywhere close to Acnologia, but I've grown massively in power thanks to that lacrima," you replied, "It's definitely worth smiling about."
"Well I suppose that's true," Meredy shrugged herself, "And it's a marked improvement over that crazy bloodlust you were letting out earlier. Your lucky Acnologia isn't interested in anything that isn't to do with dragons or Zeref or you'd probably be dead right now."
Very true, despite that though your smile didn't drop, "I'll need to keep a handle on my temper if I see Acnologia again," you replied, then bowed your head slightly in respect, "Still, thanks for bailing my stupid ass out of the fire."
Meredy waved you off, "Don't worry about it," the bubblegum haired girl chirped back with a smile, "Like I said, we owe Fairy Tail a lot."
We. She kept referring to multiple people. "Who is we?" you asked in curiosity.
"My guild, Crime Sorciere," Meredy replied, "There's only three of us right now. But once upon a time, before we clashed with Fairy Tail members, we were all deep in the darkness, it's only thanks to people from your guild that we managed to pull ourselves out of that hell. And so we've decided to fight back against the darkness, together."
Crime Sorciere huh? You'd heard of them before. Their guild mark was found all over the place, mostly left at the ruins of former dark guild bases. They'd destroyed over fifty dark guilds in the last few years. To think they were a guild of only three people. That was quite impressive.
"huh, so that's you guys? I'm impressed." you replied, nodding in respect.
"Thanks, we've been working hard!" Meredy chirped back.
"So who else is part of Crime Sorciere?" you asked, "I mean no offense, but I've never heard of you as a member of Grimoire Heart, are the other two well known at all?"
Meredy went to answer before biting her lip and stopping, "Well...he did kind of want to meet you, there's some information that would do you well to know," the pink haired older girl settled on saying, "Especially with you vowing to drag Fairy Tail back to the top, it'll attract the wrong sort of attention."
Woah, how ominous.
She shook her head before looking you in the eye, "Will you come with me?" she asked, "To meet with the other members of my guild?"
"Well I've always had trouble saying no to a pretty girl," you shrugged, "And I suppose with my new abilities, I could always eat that darkness out of you." you flirted with a wink.
"Huh, you think I'm pretty?" Meredy smiled happily, "Thanks! You're pretty cute too! I'm always around just the other two so I've not had anybody but Ul tell me that before." the innuendo flew right over her head it seems.
Still, it was a crime that a girl as beautiful as Meredy only got told she was pretty by what you assumed was an older sister figure.
"Well how are we getting there?" you asked, moving on, "Will we meet them somewhere close?"
"Eh, I'll just teleport us there," Meredy shrugged, "They're gonna be waiting at a camp near Terra Ignis, they were searching for someone at the Lycan Woods while I was checking out what was causing the commotion here."
Huh, was it a coincidence then that there was a job to pick from earlier that requested you to scare someone off from around that area? Honestly, you knocked it back because the Lycan Woods did nothing for you.
It was a massive forest dominated by Lycan Wolf packs. They were mere animals, not even magical beasts. They were big, fast and strong because their bodies were naturally enhanced with quite a bit of magic, but couldn't use that magic at all for anything, so they were generally pretty easy for any two bit mage to take down.
"Let's go then." you said. You're quite interested to see who this mystery man was as well.
"Kay, gimme your hand." Meredy replied. You did just that, holding one hand out and she slipped her smaller, dainty and soft feeling feminine hand into your own, and then you both blipped out of existence, appearing a hundred feet away, before blipping away again and again.
______________
The series of teleportation went on for a good ten minutes, your surroundings blurring and changing every moment. But finally, Meredy dropped down into a clearing and her hand slipped out of your grasp.
"Meredy, you're back fast," a low, pleasant female voice, "And I see you brought a friend." whoever it was continued dryly.
"Eh, Acnologia popped up, if I didn't help him out he would have gotten splattered during the crossfire." Meredy shrugged, turning around to face behind you, "What about you two, did you find him?"
Raising your eyebrows in curiosity, your turned to look at the speaker, and was rather surprised to not, you actually knew the owner of the female speaker on sight, and she was shaking her head 'no'. So whoever they were looking for, they didn't find.
Ultear Milkovich. Former Council Member, and well known member of Grimoire Heart. What a sight she was for sore eyes, the skin tight body suit and thigh high boots she wore under that cloak showed off her fully, luscious thighs and thick grabbable hips so nicely.
Your eyes didn't stay on her for long though, because sitting beside her on a rock was a man who you also knew quite well. You locked eyes with him and you both stared at each other.
The most wanted man on the continent, the one behind the Tower of Heaven and former Wizard Saint, someone who even eclipsed the power of Jura. "Jellal Fernandez." the name left your mouth before you could stop yourself.
"Cobalt Ray." He dipped his head slightly, still holding your gaze as he replied with your own name.
A smirk spread across your face, "You know, the council kept trying to force me to hunt you down." you settled on saying.
They seemed to think because he lost to Natsu Dragneel once upon a time, you could bring him down as well. Bullshit, it was well documented Natsu Dragneel used the Dragon Force to win that fight, by eating the raw ethernano left behind by the ethereon blast. The amount of magic power he must have consumed to activate the Dragon Force there would have been insane.
Jellal didn't smile back, but he did hold his arms up, "Well, I'm right here in front of you if you want to go for it, I won't resist." he replied plainly.
How odd. That a man such as him would be so, not submissive, but agreeable at the thought of being captured.
"Nah," you shook your head, "I'm a Fairy Tail mage now. I don't need to bother with that crap anymore."
Not that you'd win if you did anyway. Now that you weren't consumed by rage at Acnologia, you could very well recognize when you were outclassed. And Meredy alone still has more magical power than you despite the massive increase you just gained by becoming a second generation dragon slayer.
And Jellal's magic power dwarfed hers. You could feel it plainly. And Ultear had even more still.
"Speaking of," Ultear cut in, looking you over critically, "He looks different than on that recording from just a few days ago. His musculature has bulked up a bit, his teeth have sharpened, and I can feel the magic power threading through his skin."
"Ah, he kinda became a second generation dragon slayer like, twenty minutes ago," Meredy cut in with a sheepish laugh, "He ended up storing the leftover magic of the dragon Acnologia hunted down out there and I offered to implant it for him."
"A dragon slayer and a god slayer in one huh?" Ultear mused, circling around you and looking you over, "That should be quite the potent mix, still why did you bring him here Meredy? He's compliant enough I suppose for now, but it was a huge risk bringing him here when you know he's a former Rune Knight."
"Eh, I just wanted to get to know him a bit better," Meredy pouted, crossing her arms under her substantial bust and pushing them up, deepening her large well of cleavage deliciously, "Besides, Jellal wanted to talk to him and warn him about Bluenote."
Bluenote? Your eyebrows drew up. As in Bluenote Stinger? The former ace of Grimoire Heart? The most wanted man on the continent behind Jellal.
Ultear sighed, palming her forehead, "See, I told you we should have got her to socialize more the past few years," the black haired woman complained, looking at Jellal, "Look, she just basically kidnapped the first good looking boy she came into contact with."
Jellal blinked in confusion, "..What?" he uttered blankly.
"Kidnapping implies that I wouldn't willingly go with as beautiful a girl as her," you cut in, throwing a wink Meredy's way, "Now what's this about Bluenote?"
"Oh great," Ultear groaned, "It's a flirty brat."
"You're just jealous he didn't call you beautiful." Meredy stuck out her tongue at the older woman. "Blegh!"
Ultear's eyes twitched and she grabbed the pink haired girl by the cheeks and starting tugging on them, "Is that so ya little brat?" she growled, "Don't forget who actually taught you how to dress nicely and do your hair up like that. If it weren't for me you'd still be running around with a bowl cut and hiding away under a cloak!"
"Bluenote Stinger is obsessed with the three great fairy magics belonging to your new guild," Jellal began explaining, outright ignoring the two squabbling women, "The only reason he hasn't attacked the guild itself at this point is because he didn't think such powerful magic would be in the possession of as weak a guild as Fairy Tail had become."
You tore your eyes off of the two gorgeous women and looked at Jellal, "So?" you asked, "What does me joining Fairy Tail have to do with him?"
"You're a known God Slayer, and that magic doesn't just grow on trees," the blue haired criminal shook his head, "The fact you have single handily already begun to drag your guild back up the ranks in such a short amount of time may seem suspicious to him. Odds are, Bluenote may attack your guild some point in the near future with thoughts along the lines of you being a member of fairy tail hidden in the shadows for years and being the inheritor of those magics."
..That's insane. You didn't even know there were special magics belonging to your guild. To attack a guild on such a flimsy thought was stupid. But then, this was a top tier dark mage you were dealing with. Normal magic wouldn't apply to men like him.
"Thanks for the warning," you replied with a nod, "But, is he a moron? I'm not a weakling, and I'm pretty sure even Jura would have a hard time bringing me down. With my whole guild backing me up, it would foolish of him to pick a fight with me."
A dragon like Acnologia might be able to ignore you. But you're still a motherfucking god slayer. A wielder of magic designed to kill gods!
"Bluenote's a madman, but he's not an idiot," Ultear piped up, letting go of Meredy's cheeks, the pink haired girl soothingly rubbing her cheeks with a whine, "He's already built up his own dark guild, and from what we've found out, he has a talented monster tamer as an apprentice now. He's building an army of animals and magical beasts to keep everyone else occupied while he does whatever what he intends to do."
Well shit. that could be a problem.
A monster tamer? It couldn't be another coincidence could it? Was it the same one who was spotted rounding up monsters around Clover Town? It was a pretty rare magic style after all. Bit of a taboo magic.
"Guess I'm gonna have to get training even harder." you answered with a shrug. It was honestly your only go to right now. You'll probably have to report this to the magic council regardless though.
Jellal tilted his head up and nodded to Ultear. And the woman sighed, "As always, Fairy Tail members are far too bold," the black haired woman shook her head, reaching into her cloak to produce a crystal ball, "How about we do you a favour in return for a little help later down the line?"
"What's the favour for?" you asked, "I mean, I'm fine with it as long as it won't cause trouble for Fairy Tail, I already owe Meredy as it is for saving my stupid ass."
"I'll boost your power." Ultear replied simply.
Jellal continued on before you could ask what she meant, "Every year at the Grand Magic Games, we've felt a sinister magical power," the blue haired criminal uttered seriously, "A magical power we all know to belong to Zeref."
...Zeref huh? You didn't know much about the guy most dark guilds were obsessed with. Only the legends, and that it was said he appeared on Tenrou Island seven years ago, and that it was his presence there that brought Acnologia down upon Fairy Tail after they defeated Grimoire Heart.
And now that you focused on it. Didn't Meredy say Acnologia was only interested in other dragons and Zeref?
"Since we're a a guild of former dark mages, we can't exactly get close to the games without being found out," Ultear continued next, "We need someone we can trust to investigate it for us, so we can put a stop to it if it is a plot from Zeref."
"In return, Ultear will unlock your Second Origin," Jellal piped in again, you looked at him in confusion, not recognizing what he meant. "It's a recent discovery, about a second ethernano container within the shadow of your main one. With her Ark of Time magic, Ultear can unlock it and grow it to match the size and output of the first."
..Wait, what!?? "EH?" you blinked in shock. Wouldn't that effectively double your sheer magical power output? If not more so considering that the measurement numbers of magical power didn't increase in a linear line.
"Word of warning though Cobalt," Meredy cut in, still rubbing at her stinging cheeks, "It's excruciatingly painful, like your bones are cracking apart and your blood is on fire."
"Sounds like a heck of a party," you grinned. You weren't afraid of pain. To get as strong as you are now, with as young as you are. you couldn't shy away from the pain you went through from constantly pushing your body to the limit. This is no different, "Fine, deal, hit me up with this second origin sweet cheeks."
Ultear's eye twitched before a devilish grin split her lips, "You know, I think I might actually enjoy this."
