Oregon changes when they sun finally comes out. Our winter is long, wet, and ever gray, and while this creates an incredibly vibrant forest. It also can create an incredibly unvibrant disposition.
I find myself waiting for spring. Booking what shoots I can in the winter with those brave enough to venture out for 15-20 minutes in the cold gets me through the long dark months, but like the flora my schedule explodes when the temperature first goes above 60 degrees.
For those of you that have been around for a while you will notice this is not always the most ideal shooting weather. Personally I love clouds, and I don't particularly enjoy the sun, but I work with it as best I can. This shoot with Vanessa ended up being fantastic as I used the sun like a rim light and the nice soft light reflecting in the shade of the tree gave me the type of contrast and tones that I love in an image.
Despite the sun it actually was still pretty cold out. So Vanessa and I shot these pretty quickly then ran inside and cut/polished some petrified wood.
