I have seen so many places transform in my travels, but my most recent trip to Los Angeles was one I won't soon forget. Normally I try my best to escape the city and head up the coast for my shoots, but Nicole and I went on a small scouting trip to see how Malibu looked after last years fires, and came upon a rather disheartening discovery. All of the state parks I usually shoot in save for one was closed indefinitely due to the fires. Place I have come to love will likely never be the same. We managed to shoot a little bit, and that will be coming in a future update, but I was really taken aback. Coming from the east coast I am honestly pretty unfamiliar with the damage these fires cause, and in my short two years I have seen locations in Oregon, Washington, and California forever impacted by fire.
Soooo I didn't enter my shoot with Casey with a whole lot of hope. We went up to Griffith Park, a place I have shot at successfully a few times, but mostly found to be a little difficult due to the lack of greenery, and I honestly couldn't believe what I was seeing. The early and quite heavy, for LA, rains had transformed the mountains and park into a sort of unbelievable verdant landscape. As we shot a light rain moved over the park and out into the mountains and I was able to capture something rather unbelievable. Rain drops, clouds, and mountains with Casey posing in the foreground.
Honestly we were all kind of blown away by what we were able to shoot, and I couldn't be more excited with the results.
