Lillias Right, Mika Lovely, and Porcelain for The Jungle
Added 2017-07-15 18:00:01 +0000 UTCOk, so this is really mostly a set of Lillias for The Jungle.
Things don't always go according to plan and this day we were actually all planning on shooting Wet Plates, but the ISO of collodion is 1, and it was a very gloomy day. The first plate I shot of Lillias was a 30 second exposure, which came out, but very blue. In addition to the super long exposures something was wrong with either my fix or my stop bath (it was the stop bath.)
I gave up. Each plate costs about $15 in chemicals and alluminum to shoot, so when the day isn't going well its like flushing money down the drain. Maybe one day I'll be doing well enough that it doesn't hurt so bad to fuck up, but that day certainly hasn't come yet.
We called an audible, and while Lillias was showing me her wardrobe Mika, who was staying with us, pulled out two nearly identical dresses, and we figured why not get a couple group shots, since Porcelain was also hanging out. Some times a shoot just happens. Plan one thing that thing goes wrong, and then something magical comes together.
So we shot these over the course of about 30 minutes playing around in the backyard. The light back there is so perfect and easy to shoot it feels like cheating. If you are a photographer and you want to give yourself impostor syndrome move out here to the north west, and just start shooting natural light. Seriously...the light here is just perfect.
I haven't done anything for the Jungle in a little bit, but I suspect now that its a little nicer out, and we sort of destroyed the set for Pulp that I will be doing it a lot more. I just have to figure out where.
