Nicole and Amber in Capitol Reef
Added 2016-04-08 05:36:16 +0000 UTCHi from Australia everybody! It only took my 100 hours of driving, 14 hours of flying, and a 30 minute trip through customs to get here, but I made it!
Of course I'm not one to waste the opportunity of a cross country drive, so along the way I've been trying to create as much as possible. While I was in Denver Nicole and I picked up our good friend Amber Rose McConnell an incredibly talented model and photographer, and we took her to some of our favorite places.
Our first stop on the trip from Denver to LA was in Capitol Reef National Park. None of us had ever been there before, but I really wanted to finally get there and shoot among the amazing geological formations in the park. Capitol Reef is easily the best south west park I have ever been to for shooting nudes. While at the beginning of this trip I had in my head images of Nicole nude in front of Delicate Arch, or Mesa Arch when I got to Capitol Reef I knew I had made the right decision. The steep canyon walls, the many many types of rock formation, the incredibly small amount of other people made it one of the best places I have ever shot.
For hours upon hours we had the place to ourselves to hike and shoot as we saw fit, and all of that time allowed us to really get each and every shot perfectly done. We could scout places that didn't have great light on a hike out, and then shoot them on the way back, and then when the day was over we would hang out around the fire, cook dinner, drink some Utah 5% beers, and pass out from the long days.
I'm really just starting to try and incorporate multiple models into my shoots, and so far I am having fun, and the results have come out pretty good. I'm definitely looking forward to experimenting with this more as I am able to get multiple models out to these amazing locations.
I think that all of these were shot with the 17-40mm F4L Canon except for the cover image that I shot with my new Sigma Art 50mm F1.4.
