Chasing fall. Its my favorite time of year, but scheduling a shoot that lines up with the changes in season is pretty difficult. My shoot with Audrey earlier in October just missed the change in season. The leaves hadn't turned, and the days were still long and sunny. We wanted fall, but we knew we had gotten the last days of summer.
So we planned another shoot for 20 days later. This trip to the woods the forest was clearly starting to change. It was still early the greens and yellows gave us a beautiful backdrop to work with. For me fall is more than just colorful leaves though. The texture of drying flowers on the undergrowth of the forest is one of my favorite things to capture especially in black and white, so when we found a spot filled with the seasons last flowers I was stoked.
We hiked around and shot in the fall leaves until last light when we made our way back to my favorite spot. The soft tones of open sky illuminated the textures of early fall perfectly, and Audrey managed to crawl into the thick undergrowth and pose with a little help from a path created by a fallen tree.
These were all shot with my Sigma 85mm F1.4 at F1.4 and ISO 100-500.
