One of the challenges I ran into when I first started traveling was finding locations while I was on the road. My early trips were before the days of GPS, Smart Phones, or Pocket Scout...all the things that make finding places so much easier now. Its hard to believe my first cross country trip was done with an atlas.
Now I have a pretty solid strategy for finding shoot locations now. I pretty much google the town that I am in and the word waterfall. I'm not necessarily looking for waterfalls just places that have enough nature that there is hiking, and a body of water near by. Once I get to one of these spots its normally only a matter of hiking a little off trail or a little further than everyone else to have a pretty successful shoot.
That strategy is exactly what Jordan, Okami and I used to find this spot in Oakland. We didn't even have to leave the city limits to take this amazing outdoor nude photos. For these I shot with a combination of my 17-40mm F4L and my 85mm F1.4. I love seeing the drastic difference in DOF from one lens to the other.
