The moon hung high in the sky full and bright, so massive you think for a moment it was possibly magic like everything else around you. You stand outside, your breath coming out in small white puffs, your eyes wide as you take in the entire night sky. You hold in your arms the basket of supplies you had gone to fetch for your hosts in an eager attempt to please them. They had argued with you it was far too cold for a human to go out, that you would get into trouble. You argued back that while you remained here you were technically the property of dragons. Who would harm such a thing?
As you stood hypnotized by the full moon and the splendors of the night sky you didn’t realize someone was approaching you. You smile, thinking how you would enjoy the hot springs right now. The warmth of the water mixed with ther beautiful night scenery. You wanted to share it with your new host.
“There you are!”
Her voice was a welcome surprise. You spin around to see her, then gasped, still unused to the sight that stood before you. The long and elegant body covered in glittering golden scales, the dark mane that ran down her back and turned into her long swishing tail.
“Ora!” You sudden look of shock and fright instantly turned into a wide and excited smile.
Ora’s eyes narrowed on you, nostrils flaring before she was surrounded in a cloud of smoke and stepped out in her human form, gold horns still on her head.
“Is ther better for you?” She muttered, glancing away.
You rushed to close the distance between you. “See, I told you I could do it on my own.” You then tilt your head up to see the expression on Ora’s face. “What’s with that look? I was on my way back and nothing happened.”
“Even so,” Ora grumbled, her fists clenched tight at her sides, “you took too long and it got worrisome.”
You come in close and put your arm around Ora. “Who was worried?” You murmured against her ear.
Ora yanked her head away as her cheeks turned bright red, “it doesn’t matter now,” she grumbles as she brought her hand up around her mouth.
“Were you worried about me?” You nuzzle close to Ora, trying to stand on tiptoe to kiss her cheek.
Ora huffed and grabbed the supplies from your hands and rushed ahead of you. You smirk to yourself, a little smug that you could make such a powerful dragon lord act this way. You didn’t want to get a rise out of her, but at the same time it was fun to.
You had gone out on your own after your father, the king, had gotten sick. You promised him you would return home with a powerful and fearsome husband who could help you rule the kingdom as well as protect it and you. You had gone to great length to find someone proper. Your journey led you to the land of a golden dragon whom the people only called Ora. For weeks you fought to gain their attention. All your efforts were met with Ora ignoring you or simply flying away. It wasn’t until one day when you were attacked that Ora did anything at all. Ora fought off the thieves and creeps attacking you and then took you into their castle. It wasn’t until much later that you discovered Ora was in fact a female dragon. That didn’t stop you though. You continued to try to court the powerful dragon. Intent on making her your queen.
Once you got back to the castle Ora delivered the supplies and then disappeared. You went about trying to find her, wanting to take a hot bath with Ora and see the moon through her eyes. The whole castle was surrounding by steaming hot springs. Ora’s castle was built into the side of a dormant volcano. She desired warmth and heat.
Ora hid herself away in her room back in her dragon form where she was most comfortable. She curled up close to the fire there and she slowly closed her eyes. She had stared that night as well, but not at the moon. She had been hypnotized by the sight of you under the moon’s glow. The way your skin looked so smooth and perfect, even the freckles that dotted your body. Your hair shimmered, almost melting in the moonlight itself. Ora thought to herself how easy it would be for you to be claimed by the moon.
“Ora!” You bang on her door. “Ora, let me in! I want to take a bath with you!” The door rattled as you tried to bust in.
“A bath?” Ora rose up, staring at the door as you rattled it trying to get in. “Juh-just go by yourself!” She buried himself under her mound of blankets and pillows, only her eyes and nose peeking out.
The door stopped rattling and it was quiet for a moment. “I wanted to share it with you,” you murmur from the other side of the door. “I wanted to see the night sky with you. I wanted to spend time with you and see how you looked in the moonlight.”
Ora fidgeted. Why did you want to see her in moonlight? It didn’t do anything to him that daylight didn’t. He was still plain in her human form.
“Ora?” You voice was mewled with need. “Can I come in?” The door slid open.
The door was unlocked? Ora tensed up under her pile of blankets. You had just been rattling it for the drama of it all?
“Ora?” You ask as you looked around. You then saw the giant pile of blankets and pillows shift as Ora tucked her head underneath. “There you are!” You get down on her hands and knees and pulled up the blanket. “Are you cold?”
Ora’s eyes glowed gold in the darkness, they were wide as she looked at you spying upon her.
“Yes!” She yelped. “I don’t wanna go out in the cold, so juh-just take a bath by yourself.”
“Oh?” You tilt your head. “Then can I come in?”
The pile suddenly shrank and collapsed in and Ora crawled out from under the blankets in her human form. She frowned as she looked up at you. You looked at Ora as if you were looking at your next meal.
“The baths aren’t a good place for you right now,” Ora grumbled as she looked down at the floor “Some of my kin who only go out at night are a bit…rough around the edges.”
You beamed, excitedly looking around Ora’s room. It was big, but then it had to be to accommodate her dragon form. There was a wall of books to one side, her large bed made of many blankets and pillows was in the corner. You took a seat before the fire and you stretched your legs out.
Ora went and sat beside him, folding her legs under herself, sitting properly in front of you
Ora flinched and stood up suddenly. “Stay put, I’ll be right back.” She held her finger out at you with her command. “You need to eat after that trip.”
“Wait,” you grab Ora’s wrist. “You don’t need to do that.” You let Ora’s hand slip into your palm and you squeezed her hand there. “I’m fine here with just you.”
Ora felt her whole body grow warm, even the tips of her horns. Being in your presence felt like wading into a hot pool. She frowned, lips pressing into a firm line as she sat back down beside you. She tucked her legs back under herself and held her fists over her knees. She still wasn’t sure how to handle herself around you.
“You can come closer to me, Ora,” you beckoned, your hand resting on her knee.
“Uh,” Ora tried to not look at you but she found she was turning towards you anyways.
“Don’t you want to sit closer?” Your smile spread and you put your arm around Ora’s waist and snuggled closer to her. Her tail wrapped around your suddenly, falling into your lap.
“I’m sorry!” She went to push her tail away.
“I like when Ora touches me,” your murmur, your lips close to Ora’s cheek. You inched even closer to Ora, your chest flushed against her side.
Ora lowered her head, trying to keep herself from poofing into a dragon and crushing you under her weight. She then looked down, stealing another glance of you. She swallowed hard, her eyes on your shapely lips again.
She slowly sat back up, placing herself at your side. It was quiet again for a moment and you can hear her heart hammering loudly in her chest.
“Ora,” Ora’s heart nearly popping at the sound of your voice. “Am I bother to you?” You ask.
“Wha-what?” Ora glanced at you. “No, I mean, I’ve never dealt with humans like this before so it is hard to say if-” she rambled on for a minute as you listened.
You glance down and chew on your cheek for a second. “You seem to not like being around me is why I asked.”
Ora swallowed hard, gathering her strength. “It…it isn’t what you think,” she admitted slowly, carefully choosing her words.
“I like you,” her voice soft and gentle, “and you make me curious. Watching you and seeing how you act, it makes me happy. Being near you is even better but-” she reached up and touched her horns. “Keeping my human form is hard and when you’re around my nerves and anxiety…I can’t keep it fully intact. It’s a struggle. Even now…I’m worried I’ll fall apart.” She struggled for a moment, a hard lump coming from her chest to her throat. “Because being with you is both wonderful and frightening,” she murmured. “I don’t know how to be frightened. I’m not used to it.”
“I may not be attractive as a human either,” she began devolving into panicked rambling, “and I worry that…looking at me when I’m not a dragon isn’t as pleasing for you…but it’s easier being with you in a human form so I uh…I try and stay that way around you. But like I said it can be-”
You smile and you nuzzle your cheek to the curve of Ora’s neck, “you’re so cute!” You squeeze her tight into your arms.
Ora whimpered.
“I like looking at you Ora, even now,” You replied with your usual chipper tone. “To me, you aren’t plain at all. I fell for you from the very moment I saw you. I’ve been falling faster and faster every moment with you.”
“You fell for…for me?” She laughed like it was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard.
“Even now, when you won’t take a bath under the moonlight with me,”you smirk teasingly. Her expression then went blank and she turned her head, glancing down at the tail wrapping around your back and petting along your thigh. You look at it and start to pet it.
“Anh!” Ora nearly screamed when you touched it.
“Is this yours?” You pick the tail up and hold it in your arms, cradling it like a doll.
“See! See! That’s what I mean by falling a part!” Ora snarled, her face blood red.
You nuzzle your cheek to Ora’s tail. “Your scales are smooth,” you murmured. You then placed a soft kiss to the pale scales and Ora’s expression melted. “Every inch of Ora is perfect.”
Her voice came out a pathetic whimper.
“Hmm?” You tilted your head and continued petting Ora’s tail. “Would you prefer a direct kiss then?” You teased, never expecting even a reply.
Ora looked to you, her eyes serious, lips pouting. “Ye-yes,” she squeaked out.
You were shaken, your heart skipped a beat and your cheeks went rosy. You lick your lips as you compose yourself again. Ora’s tail wrapped back around your and tickled up your back. You lean in, Ora’s lashes fluttered before she closed her eyes and tilted her head down for you. You lost your breath for a moment, the sight too beautiful for you.
You cupped Ora’s cheek and kissed her long, dark lashes, the tip of her nose. You then gently ran her thumb across Ora’s bottom lip before you pressed your own upon them. Ora kissed back, her lips parting as a soft, intimate sound escaped.
You pull back for a moment, peering up at Ora, her scales glittering in the glow of the fire. He eyes open and she looks at you. Her fingers curl into your hair, running through your locks before she pressed a kiss to your lips. She grasps your close, her hands on either side of your neck.
“Do you kiss all humans like that?” You see starts as you catch a breath.
Ora pouted, “do you?” She snarled, her lip curling up.
You smile brightly and kiss her again. “Never,” you purr and her hands squeeze around your hips.
“You’re not allowed to anymore,” she growls into your ear.
“I only wish to kiss dragons now,” you whisper back. “Well, only one dragon.”
