Lackadaisy Thaumaturgy

Latest page...hopefully not too dark or over-contrasted.  It's hard to get that right for all displays.

The posting system has been updated and apparently these won't display at full size here anymore.  =/
Sorry about that.  If it's difficult to read, the full size version can be viewed here.

This is goddam cinematic. The pacing in this entire sequence is so amazing.

Rachel S.

Oh my goodness, the colors and depth of field in this one. I didn't think it was possible to love Lackadaisy more than I already did. You continue to amaze me.

Sarah Pacetti

You create amazing content Tracy, keep it up! :D

Elias Luukkanen

AMAZING! ♥♥♥

olaaaaaa

Lol, it also makes me unreasonably happy when something I say/do makes someone else unreasonably happy, haha... =^.^=

Thysania

Beautiful, cinematic work!!

Sure - thank you! I'd appreciate it!

Tracy Butler

It is amazing!! :) i can post yout work in my web and link this profile? :D

Emanuel Canova

Yes, 'magical' is the right title for such an amazing and complex backstory. The most impressive entertainment I've ever purchased at "depression level" prices! Fantastic imagery and some of the best Lackadaisy artwork ever. Can't say enough about how just plain good it is... cats truly ARE the "criminal masterminds" of the animal world, one of my favorite quotes ever!

Larry Contrary

If this were a more Victorian setting, he definitely has just the right combination of style, brooding studiousness, and habitual murder to pull off an aristocratic vampire archetype. A dreadfully short, floofier variety, though.

Recremen

And there's no reflection for Mordecai, or if there is, it's a silhouette. Is Mordecai a vampire? No, no, no... maybe?

John

Hehe - it makes me unreasonably happy when people notice those things. =D

Tracy Butler

Lol I just noticed him in the reflection of the window by Mordecai's face in the final panel!

Thysania

Thanks for the thoughtful (and exceptionally kind) feedback! It's been fun working with some colors other than sepia for these flashbacks. This page underwent a couple rounds of layout revision before it arrived at where it is too...I think it was worth it, though. I'm glad you seem to have enjoyed it! =D

Tracy Butler

Mordecai's personal embodiment of Maitre Carrefour... brilliant. I am not going to lie, I did not see this comparison coming. I knew Atlas was important to Mordecai, but this last page is just brimming with back-story. Many have already commented profusely on use of lighting, so anything I have to say on the matter will seem repetitive: beautiful contrast between Mordecai and Atlas (they both have half their faces lit in the last few vignettes, the opposite of each other: different faces of the same coin?), and I agree with those who have definitely done great justice at commenting on the marvel of the tunnel lighting. Furthermore, as others have said, wonderful use of sepia tones with blue as a flashback tool. The pages are getting better and better with each update, and it looks as if the use of color is increasing. All of this makes my day.

Ava

I love the buildup with the tunnel lighting! (and adding that gator is so cool!) This is awesome; it looks like you really had fun with the lighting effects on this one.

GreenAngel5

Interesting, I've been quite curious what Atlas did to make such a profound impression on Mordecai. The guy seems to have an incredible force of presence, though, so I think any gesture would have a far-reaching impact. I love the way you depict him!

Recremen

Nope. Not too dark or over-contrasted. Instead, it suits the scene's tone perfectly. Also makes me like Mordecai even more than I already did. : )

Kinan Eldari

Oh well, that's very good to hear! ;) Seriously, marvelous job. Again.

Mae

Thank you for the exceptionally kind feedback, Mae. =) (There's definitely no need to apologize for your English - if I didn't already know better, I'd have thought it was your native language.)

Tracy Butler

Good eye! =D

Tracy Butler

The contrast looks great! Loving this Mordecai backstory

Tennelle Flowers

You could most likely tell a complete and compelling story with your artwork alone.

Mae

finally, some background on Atlas!

picklefactory

Yes, very cinematic! This is a great Atlas/Mordecai scene, we're finally getting to see what sort of a man he was... So interesting!

Thysania

The use of the warm and cold sepia here adds so much punch to the narrative! And the tiny bits of color are perfect.

Fiona W. Dunn

Very interested in how Atlas fits into Seraphine's shifty storytelling. Loving all this spooky lighting! Mord's erratic expressions as well gawd this is so tense!

StarPoke

Beautiful work! I'm always amazed by your expressions- you truly are the best! I can't wait for the next one- might just get to see how Atlas made poor Mordecai a killer. Rock on Ms. Butler!

Maklarr4000

The lighting is gorgeous in this. The set up is so cinematic! And at last: ATLAS! That gave me chills ngl

PricklyPear

I adore the play of light and dark on this page! It really enhances the story. This entire flashback sequence so far is so dreamy and powerful. I love it!

Rebekah Layton

god, this is absolutely amazing. what great storytelling.

blueeyedintrovert

I had to go the previous page, but the "presence" was in the back of the car on the right in the frame all the time.

John

It looks great on a recently-calibrated TN display, and I'm sure it'll just look better on the IPS at home. I love it, particularly the use of spot color and dutch angles.
