Poll: Elves - February 2023

As we said we will start with the polls 3 months apart.

Since we have a lot of resources in the elves and it is relatively easy for us to approach any reference with ease, I am going to be quite explicit with the idea we have for each month.

If someone suggests something that we find very interesting, we can modify it, but in principle this is our plan:

Imperial Kindred (Dragon Theme):

Dragon Riders Unit (3)

Scouts With Bow and Cloak

Chariot themed version

Queen's Armies

Giant Eagle Princess Rider

Maiden Cavalry

Maidens Magic Bow

Princedom of Tor Rufánë (Lion Theme):

Lion Riders Unit (3)

Rangers (bow and axe)

Line Infantry with axes and spears

Generic army:

Heavy cavalry on Hipogriffs

Archers Heavy Armour

Shadow Warriors

Marine Army

Sea Guard Rangers.

Marine Pikemen

Sea Serpent Prince

As you can see the rangers are in many of the options because we consider them to be the big absentee from the range.

Choose wisely ladies  and gentlemen.

In our opinion the multicomponent only makes sense in the context that GW creates it. That is, very expensive moulds, and the need to put options in the same box. But the reality is that it limits a lot the sculpting and posing possibilities. GW already had the limitations of the mould, so it doesn't matter much. But it restricts us a lot. A multicomponent requires the arms to work on different bodies and in different situations. T That means that the bodies have to have neutral positions and the arms have to have neutral positions. It also has to have the same cutting system if it has to. Which may or may not be suitable for certain parts. . But once chosen, it doesn't matter if it is suitable or not, it is simply the system you have. A human body has 4 axes of articulation. Shoulders, waist, hips and knees. In a standard multicomponent only the waist is used, the rest of the body is only used to align the waist. And that is what makes any multicomponent figure look robotic. Our miniatures, even if they are still, have the 4 axes displaced, which is what gives them a natural look. Because that is how a body behaves in reality... We can look for any miniature you want from our catalogue, and none of the axes are aligned. In GW miniatures it is normal for 3 axes to be aligned. Also the cuts make us lower the quality of the sculpture. The neck in reality is not a cylinder. But for you to be able to simply turn a head you have to turn it into a cylinder. In an armour maybe it is not very noticeable, but in a miniature with the chest in the air in my opinion the result is disastrous. And that's talking about the neck, which is the easiest of all the cuts, and the one we usually give you for that reason. We cut as little as possible to make the impression easier and to preserve the sculpture as well as possible. This is what differentiates us from other brands that have followed the GW cutting scheme. Or others that don't bother to cut at all... At this point I'll tell you the last big drawback. It will take us almost the same amount of time to sculpt two different figures, and well finished, than to make a multicomponent of two options, which will be at a lower sculpting level. And that is the reason why we don't like to make them. And that's why many times when we give you characters with two heads, we give you two bodies with two heads glued together, and not one body and two heads. In this case, the cut would destroy parts of the sculpture and would not contribute anything, or we would have to go to a more neutral pose in which the pieces would not collide with each other. It is a question of choices and sacrifices, and within our own possibilities, we always choose the one that generates in our opinion the best miniature.

Last Sword Miniatures

As I am planning my new 9th Age Highelven Army right now, I am in desperate need of Command miniatures...Have you considered some Multipart Character options... E.g. General with different weapons on foot and horse...and we need Battle Standard Bearers... What do you think?

Some queens guard stuff would be amazing. Been wanting to have some magical bow girls in my army for awhile but havent found highly detailed files yet. I am conflicted though, I love the classic WHFB High Elf look so part of me wants generic everything. Dragons are cool but I like to leave the dragon motifs to more higher ranking elves. having more Generic elves would also open the door for more people... since it seems good high elves are hard to find online. Modular elves would also be a big plus, mix and match various releases to make custom stuff without the need to tinker in mesh mixer or 3d builder.
