Proof of Life #199: About Update 10 (you won't believe your eyes, definitely not clickbait)
Added 2023-11-20 14:06:25 +0000 UTCHeya, you gorgeous fellas, how is it going in this fine morning/afternoon/evening? Now that Update 9 has been released, I've come to talk about what I've been doing with Update 10, and what I'm planning to do as well.
So, I think I've mentioned somewhere I wanted to do a poll soon, but I've decided against it. I wanted to ask your opinion about the upcoming content, and what character I should focus on, but since Lily and Haylen are still behind, I want to incorporate them in the upcoming updates until they've caught up with Cyanna and Rose. This means this update will have a new Lily quest, as well as some more main story with either Cyanna, Rose, or maybe both of them.
I'm currently working on Lily's quest, and I've progressed a fair bit, because it doesn't really require any extra map. However, it has one new character that will make an apparition throughout all of it. Don't worry, it won't be yet another recurrent side-character, but simply one that will introduce a new dynamic into Lily and Nezar's relationship during her quest, a bit different from the ones we've seen so far. I can't show her (yes, it's a woman) yet, as her design is being worked on right now, but I have added one of my highly sexy placeholder stick figure in the top right corner. Can't figure out what it is? I'm not sure either, to be honest. We'll see in the new update ; )

Well, what you described is basically all the HC series is about, so I'm glad to hear you seem to be enjoying most of what the game has to offer : )

2023-11-24 05:08:53 +0000 UTCI know, and that's on purpose. Or rather, I have to because otherwise it would be an organizational nightmare. Because people can do the side quests whenever they want, I never know at what stage of corruption the other characters in other questlines will be, what outfit they would be wearing, or if they should even be available at all (say they are away from the map in their questline, or in prison, or whatever, and they suddenly show up in another quest, that wouldn't make much sense). I remember I had a main character show up in a side-quest in HC2, and then I had to always keep in mind to never add any of their quests at the same time as the side-quest they were in, because otherwise they might be in two places at the same time. And that was just one time. Now imagine all the characters interacting with each other in different questlines and at different times. Besides the outfit and possible story issues I stated above, it would be a complete mess to keep track of everyone in every quest to make sure they don't show up in two places at the same time. So yeah, I know what you mean, and I often want to make the characters interact more, but that would be too much of a problem on the development side of the game. The only characters that can meet and speak with each other are Cyanna and Rose, since they share the same questline.

2023-11-21 04:52:59 +0000 UTCI definitely will balance it out more. I wanted to do it with previous updates as well, but I'm not sure why I ended up focusing on the main story at some point. There was a reason for that, based on my break and other stuff, but I can't 100% remember what that was. Side stories as extra scenes could be something to consider, but if we take into account the fact that those are easy to miss and will progress even if you haven't seen them, having extra scenes related to them might come off as a surprise (and a disappointment) to those who've missed them.

The mother having some fun on the side with her servants to evacuate the stress is hard to exploit, as there's little room for growth. She's already corrupted at this point anyway, and her kid is indeed a bit to young to have him involved in anything. Thanks for the suggestion though ; )

As in she's 20ish trying to work her way up to her GED and he's 12 graduating elementary school. Older people going after younger people who are of age is one thing, a character going for an actual child would be another thing altogether.

A little less main story in exchange for Haylen and Lily keeping their own event level a little closer to Rose and Cyanna is a welcome change in my opinion. You should keep that up with further updates. Have you ever considered using the extra scenes to end the side stories? Like, say, having the fishmonger's wife fucking a bunch of guards as a prostitute or the mother screwing her son's former bully instead of teaching him math?

2023-11-20 21:28:14 +0000 UTCIt's funny. In HC1 and HC2, I was equally interested in all characters, but this time Rose dominates all others for me. Still I think, it is a good idea to have Lily and Hayden catch up. Especially Lily's story is unique abd has a lot of potential.

Where his mom is getting fucked & the other students were going to start to see Lily exposed, but the blonde kid would not. Didn't go down that route, but maybe it still can? Just spitballing ideas in case ur stuck on what to do with her lol

2023-11-20 16:52:01 +0000 UTCActually, most of the times I start development with side quests, because main quests can be very long, longer than an entire update, so I'd rather start with something smaller that can definitely be finished before the release, then take the time remaining to focus on the main quest

I saw your post on F95 where you were explaining how RPGmaker works or something like that, and based on my limited knowledge on the matter i gathered that the image you posted had something to do with Lily, but i assumed that it was an older image you still had for some reason cause usually when there's both MSQ and Side quest in the same Update you focus on the MSQ first (since obviously that's more important) and whatever time you have left is for the Side Quest.
