Thank you so much!
Ah thats tough! Admittedly it's mostly just instinct, which isnt much help! But I do keep a pallete of their local colours (so colours without lighting or any colour layers on top) and when I design that I generally just rotate the same colours for a chapter or so, the skin tones stay the same and I choose a bunch of colours for their clothes that overlap, like Julien and Romans shirts are the same colour, Marnie has the same colour shorts as Roman, Alma's shorts are the same as Alex's jumper etc. It means its kinda easier to figure out colours that will be harmonious in the background. The scene so far started out red and blue, and I tried to gradiate it to purple and brighter blue each page to make it seem more moon-lightey instead of fire-lightey. The overlay that I use ontop of the characters also went from pink/red, with yellow light, to purple with blue light. It (ugh I posted before I was done, I'll add more in a second!) it's mostly just sticking within the 'similar colours look good together' theory this time, and when you use a less harmonious colour it's best to use it in small amounts so it compliments instead of clashes for balance! I usually either go for harmony or opposites, depending on the scene. I generally pick out one or two main colours to theme it around and then kinda try to fit in other smaller colours from there that make things pop! Sorry, not really a solid method though haha! (I also save *so* much colour inspo that definitely will bleed into my taste!)
