Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [603]

While August wasn’t paying attention, Mew quietly turned invisible, inching stealthily toward the Pokémon Egg.

Just as it was about to touch the egg, a hand suddenly appeared from above, swiftly lifting Mew into the air.

Mew twisted its head around, only to find Gardevoir staring unblinkingly at it.

“Mew!” Mew squirmed desperately, but clearly, it was useless.

Meanwhile, August was already channeling his Viridian Power into the Pokémon Egg. The gentle aura of life quickly soaked into the egg, which began trembling immediately, as if the Pokémon inside would burst out at any moment.

“What Pokémon is it!?” Zinnia leaned in close, eyes glued to the egg.

Seemingly startled by Zinnia’s sudden closeness, the egg almost stopped shaking altogether.

“Don’t scare it...” August gently pushed Zinnia aside.

And finally, just as Zinnia pouted unhappily, the eggshell cracked open!

Under everyone's watchful eyes, a Pokémon cloaked in dreamy colors emerged from the egg—

A white body, fluffy mane tinted with teal and pale violet, and a small horn atop its head.

Zinnia blinked. “This is… a Ponyta?”

“To be precise, it’s Ponyta’s Galarian form,” August corrected.

In a way, this Galarian Ponyta truly was unique to the Galar region.

Honestly, before the egg hatched, August hadn’t expected it to be a Galarian Ponyta. He’d guessed something more like Wooloo.

“Rose can be surprisingly generous sometimes.” August smiled slightly, reaching out toward the Ponyta.

Sensing the Viridian Power radiating from August, the little Ponyta instantly showed a warm, affectionate expression, nuzzling August’s palm gently with its head.

The short horn brushed against his hand, but instead of feeling sharp, it felt pleasantly soft and comforting.

“So cute!” Blue exclaimed.

“August-sensei, may I pet it too?” Lillie asked eagerly.

“Mew!” Mew protested.

In no time at all, the slightly overwhelmed Ponyta was surrounded on all sides by curious hands.

Just as August was busy hatching the Ponyta, today’s main characters—Giovanni and Lance—finally took the stage!

Giovanni, impeccably dressed in a crisp suit, walked steadily into the arena. Even from afar, the intimidating aura he emitted was undeniable, fixing everyone's eyes upon him.

Opposite Giovanni stood Lance, cape fluttering dramatically in the wind, drawing thunderous cheers from the spectators.

“I never imagined you’d pick me as your opponent, Giovanni. Aren’t you worried about stumbling at the start?” Lance asked, intrigued.

Giovanni said nothing in response, merely wearing an ambiguous, faintly mocking smile.

Seeing Giovanni clearly didn’t intend to respond, Lance didn’t waste any more words.

They were already here on the battlefield anyway—let’s settle this with a fight!

Turning, Lance nodded to the referee, signaling he was ready.

After confirming Giovanni’s readiness as well, the referee raised his flags: “Both trainers are set—let the battle begin!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, both trainers simultaneously released their Pokémon.

Giovanni chose his Beedrill. The Pokémon’s lethal stingers gleamed sharply under the morning sun, radiating deadly intent.

Lance sent out Dragonite. Stretching its wings wide, Dragonite stood tall, its round belly proudly thrust forward. Its eyes locked unwaveringly on Beedrill, clearly pondering where best to attack first.

Dragon/Flying-type Dragonite vs. Bug/Poison-type Beedrill—

From the moment Giovanni’s Beedrill appeared, it faced a clear disadvantage in typing.

And an unfavorable start was only the beginning: Lance raised his hand, revealing the Dynamax Band on his wrist, calling out decisively, “Dragonite, [Dynamax]!”

Fueled by energy, Dragonite’s body expanded rapidly, inflating like a balloon. In the blink of an eye, it towered over the battlefield like a small mountain.

The Dynamaxed Dragonite lowered its gaze, looking down at the tiny Beedrill below, as if observing an ant.

“Lance has immediately Dynamaxed his Pokémon! Is he aiming for a fast knockout against Giovanni’s Beedrill?” Ball Guy shouted excitedly.

August watched Giovanni curiously, eager to see how he’d respond.

Would he also Dynamax and engage Lance head-on?

But that would mean abandoning Beedrill’s advantage in speed and flexibility, dragging it into a battle of attrition—a terrible matchup given its typing. Lance would certainly love for Giovanni to make that choice.

But if Giovanni chose Mega Evolution instead…

Though Mega Evolution could drastically boost Beedrill’s power, Giovanni would have to guarantee it could survive the Dynamaxed Dragonite’s assault. If he couldn’t manage that, he’d be better off Dynamaxing as well.

Of course, there was always a third option—doing neither and simply letting Beedrill fight Dragonite directly.

Just as August pondered what Giovanni might choose, Giovanni decisively swung his arm:

“Beedrill, [Poison Sting]!”

Instantly, Beedrill buzzed forward, rapidly beating its wings and launching a barrage of poisoned needles straight toward the mountain-sized Dragonite.

August: “?”

Wait—Giovanni, you’re really doing this!?

August had never expected Giovanni to actually send Beedrill charging straight ahead.

Yes, August acknowledged Giovanni’s Beedrill was powerful, but Lance’s Dragonite was also his ace. The gap between them certainly wasn’t large enough to justify such reckless confidence.

Was Giovanni overestimating himself a little here?

Your Beedrill is an assassin!

And you're sending an assassin to fight a tank head-on?

Lance was equally astonished at Giovanni’s seemingly reckless approach, a trace of confusion flashing in his eyes.

What on earth was Giovanni thinking?

Could he actually be throwing the match?

Though puzzled, Lance didn’t slow down in the slightest:

“Dragonite, [Max Airstream]!”

Dragonite inhaled sharply, inflating its belly, and fired a massive tornado roaring across the entire battlefield.

The vortex’s terrifying suction drew in everything around it—including Beedrill’s volley of poisoned needles.

Protective barriers activated automatically around the arena, shielding spectators from the intense pull.

The audience was protected—but Beedrill, standing at the center of it all, had nowhere to hide.

Dragonite’s Max Airstream was aimed directly at Beedrill. It bore the full brunt of the attack!

Yet, Beedrill had weathered plenty of intense battles before. Even now, it stayed utterly calm. A flash of light surrounded its body—

[Agility]!

Its speed spiking drastically, Beedrill became a fallen leaf caught in a storm, swiftly weaving through chaotic air currents to seek advantageous flows. Borrowing momentum, it executed elegant yet unpredictable arcs through the turbulent skies. Just as the Max Airstream seemed certain to consume it, Beedrill twisted aside, narrowly evading the full brunt of the attack.

Though it couldn’t avoid being buffeted by the powerful aftermath, simply dodging the main blow was already a victory against an attack covering nearly the entire arena.

“Beedrill has displayed incredible agility! It seems Dragonite’s Max Airstream hasn't managed to corner it after all!” Ball Guy shouted.

Having missed the first strike, Dragonite immediately prepared another Max Airstream.

But this time, as Dragonite inhaled to build up power, Giovanni’s Beedrill moved first, shooting toward Dragonite like a lightning bolt.

[Poison Jab]!”

Beedrill’s stingers flashed violet as they drove straight at Dragonite’s exposed belly.

Still charging its move, Dragonite swiped a massive claw at Beedrill. But being smaller certainly had its advantages—

Beedrill skillfully dodged Dragonite’s clumsy attempt to swat it, like a mosquito weaving past a lumbering palm. It pierced Dragonite’s body with precise ease.

Poison Jab struck true, causing Dragonite to flinch slightly from the sting of pain.

But Dragonite was Lance’s ace—its battle instincts were unquestionable. With a single shake of its wings, it whipped up chaotic gusts, sending Beedrill tumbling wildly through the air.

Then, with ruthless decisiveness, Dragonite aimed its fully charged Max Airstream straight down—uncaring even if the blast caught itself in the process—and unleashed it directly at Beedrill.

WHOOSH—!

Faced with Dragonite’s attack that even engulfed itself, Beedrill failed to evade this time, instantly swallowed whole by the giant tornado.

Giovanni's eyes briefly flashed with surprise—he hadn't expected Lance’s Dragonite to be so ruthless.

Seems like Lance did improve a bit after becoming Johto’s Champion.

But he wasn't worried; he trusted his Beedrill implicitly.

Just as this thought flashed through his mind—

Whoosh!

Looking somewhat battered, Beedrill suddenly burst free from the tornado, its body surrounded by the faintly flickering energy barrier of Protect.

Protect had shielded Beedrill from most of that lethal strike.

Yet, instead of retreating, the Beedrill that had just narrowly escaped death charged straight toward Dragonite again.

Its twin stingers lit with a fierce brilliance as Beedrill aimed directly at Dragonite’s face.

Dragonite reflexively raised its arm to block—but as soon as it made that move, it realized it might have fallen for a trap.

Just as Dragonite suspected, Beedrill instantly shifted tactics the moment Dragonite’s claw rose.

[Endeavor]!”

Beedrill slammed heavily into Dragonite’s chest.

Though tiny in comparison, Beedrill unleashed a shocking power equal to Dragonite’s own, forcing Dragonite back several steps!

"He really went and did it..." August murmured, sighing slightly at the sight.

Endeavor was a Normal-type move capable of dragging an opponent's stamina down to the user's own level.

Under normal circumstances, the move wouldn't have landed easily. If Dragonite hadn’t instinctively raised its claw, blocking its own line of sight, it could've easily forced Beedrill away in countless other ways.

But now…

With Beedrill’s successful strike, all the previous attacks Dragonite landed effectively bounced back onto itself.

Even worse—Dragonite was now poisoned!

Seeing the pained expression on Dragonite’s face, August was speechless. Talk about a house leaking during a rainstorm…

In the blink of an eye, Lance’s huge advantage had flipped into a huge disadvantage.

Even Lance struggled to keep calm amid this drastic shift, but his Champion-level discipline forced him to maintain composure. Dragonite might have lost stamina and gotten poisoned, but it still held the advantage in type and Dynamax form.

Watching Beedrill preparing to strike again, Lance waved his hand decisively.

“Dragonite, [Max Airstream]!”

The third Max Airstream!

Another terrifying tornado filled the battlefield.

But at that very moment…

[U-turn]!”

Beedrill burst with green energy, darting forward like a lightning bolt. After stabbing swiftly at Dragonite, it transformed into a streak of light and retreated to its Pokéball, summoning another Pokémon in its place.

As soon as Aggron entered the field, it crossed its sturdy metal-plated arms in front of its body, tanking Dragonite’s Max Airstream head-on with sheer armor alone.

Max Airstream barely scratched Aggron.

And now, with all its Dynamax energy exhausted, Dragonite rapidly shrunk back to normal size.

“Giovanni has swapped Pokémon using U-turn! Lance’s Dynamax has ended. Does Giovanni hold the advantage now?” Ball Guy commented uncertainly.

In truth, Ball Guy was quite confused. Hadn't Giovanni been at a disadvantage just moments ago? How’d the situation flip around so quickly?

Looking at Aggron in front of him, Lance: “…”

He was now beginning to suspect Giovanni’s initial decision not to switch out Beedrill had all been intentional—baiting him into wasting Dynamax early.

Now, even though Beedrill and Dragonite had both lost most of their stamina, Beedrill wasn’t poisoned. And Giovanni still had both Dynamax and Mega Evolution at his disposal.

Giovanni was holding a massive advantage.

The more Lance thought about it, the more he felt defeat was looming over him.

And at this exact moment, Lance saw Giovanni reveal the Key Stone on his lapel.

“Aggron.”

At Giovanni’s quiet call, brilliant energy enveloped Aggron.

Aggron → Mega Aggron!

Lance: “…”

What you fear most always shows up right on time.

Mega Aggron, now even bulkier with thicker limbs and tail, stood towering on the battlefield. It locked onto Dragonite and charged forward in powerful strides!

[Heavy Slam]!

Dragonite quickly flew upward, dodging Mega Aggron’s brutal charge.

But Mega Aggron slammed both claws into the ground, ripping a massive rock free and flinging it upward in an instant.

[Rock Tomb]!

Massive rocks shot toward Dragonite in midair.

Dragonite dodged two of the rocks easily but quickly realized it couldn’t stall forever. Smashing the third rock with a swift punch, Dragonite immediately dived toward Mega Aggron.

[Flamethrower]!

White-hot flames surged downward, engulfing Mega Aggron.

But Giovanni knew his Pokémon’s weaknesses even better than Lance did.

[Earth Power]!”

A thick wall of earth and stone rose instantly, shielding Mega Aggron from the searing flames.

At the same time, jagged rock pillars erupted from the ground, obstructing Dragonite’s approach.

Dragonite had no choice but to weave cautiously through the rock pillars, frantically searching for an opening to strike Mega Aggron.

But before Dragonite could find its chance—

Mega Aggron found its own first.

Right as Dragonite maneuvered between two pillars, Mega Aggron seized its moment:

[Rock Slide]!”

The pillars conjured by Earth Power instantly shattered, countless stones raining down upon Dragonite.

Dragonite’s expression twisted in pain as it desperately tried to soar upward.

But Mega Aggron, smashing through the rubble, charged relentlessly until it reached Dragonite.

[Iron Head]!

Mega Aggron drove forward headfirst, aiming straight at Dragonite!
