Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [534]

With the matters involving N resolved and Alder’s invitation firmly declined, August prepared to meet Professor Oak in Castelia City following his academic conference.

However, before leaving, he needed to handle the legendary Pokémon he'd summoned earlier.

Dialga and Palkia weren't a problem—he could simply pocket their Poké Balls and take them back to Kanto.

Ho-Oh and Lugia could easily fly back to Johto themselves.

The issue lay with Kyogre and Groudon.

August glanced at the two Pokémon and found their expressions vastly different. Kyogre was eyeing Groudon with excitement, eager for a chance to drag it along again, while Groudon stared back at August with deep resentment.

Do you have any idea how humiliating it is for a proud Groudon to be dragged around by Kyogre?

August coughed awkwardly. “It couldn’t be helped, Hoopa’s on strike. But relax, this time I’ve thought of a much better solution—though you’ll have to spend a little time somewhere else.”

Groudon clearly didn't believe a word of this.

“Just relax. Don’t resist.”

Before Groudon could respond, August tapped his phone. Instantly, a golden portal appeared beneath Groudon, swiftly swallowing it up.

Kyogre watched Groudon disappear, its expression instantly deflated.

The joy was gone!

Watching Kyogre sadly drift away alone, August suddenly felt inexplicably guilty. He quickly shook off that unsettling thought.

It was time to meet Professor Oak in Castelia City.

...

Castelia City.

“Hmm, that young man called N became a Pokémon Ranger? That suits him perfectly.” Professor Oak nodded thoughtfully after hearing the outcome of the Plasma incident from August.

He always believed nobody was inherently bad, and if there was a chance to redeem someone, it was worth trying.

As they talked, a loud cry of surprise erupted nearby.

August and Professor Oak turned to see Gary standing with his hands on his hips, a Landorus hovering proudly next to him. The startled exclamation had come from Ash, who was staring wide-eyed at Gary’s latest legendary Pokémon.

Clearly, Gary had been boasting again.

August had long grown accustomed to Gary’s constant urge to show off, but Professor Oak looked intrigued.

“That Pokémon is...?”

“Landorus, a legendary Pokémon native to Unova,” August explained patiently.

Before August had even finished speaking, Professor Oak eagerly approached Landorus, examining it from all angles.

Gary’s carefully crafted moment of pride immediately collapsed. Faced with his grandfather’s overwhelming curiosity, Gary could only sigh in resignation and obediently help Oak study Landorus.

August couldn't suppress a laugh.

Suddenly, Hoopa’s cheerful voice piped up behind him. “Heeheehee! August, have some ice cream!”

August gratefully accepted the cone. “Thanks!” After a bite, he recognized the flavor instantly. “Casteliacone?”

But Casteliacones always had long lines—where had Hoopa gotten it?

August glanced at Hoopa and saw it already floating over to Mewtwo, handing over another ice cream cone. Then Hoopa casually reached through its ring again, producing yet another cone, this time for Rosa.

August sighed inwardly.

Tomorrow’s news headlines practically wrote themselves: “Massive Casteliacone Heist—Ice Cream Mysteriously Vanishes!”

Seeing August’s skeptical stare, Hoopa quickly added, “Hoopa paid, honest!”

August shook his head with an indulgent smile. If Hoopa actually paid, he wouldn’t fuss.

Suddenly, August felt his hand grow lighter.

He turned, discovering the ice cream had vanished, leaving only an empty cone behind.

August: “?”

After a second of confusion, August suspiciously reached above his head, grabbing Mew by the scruff and pulling her into view.

“You stole my ice cream, didn’t you?”

Mew widened her innocent eyes in shocked disbelief, as if deeply hurt by August’s accusation.

But within moments, Mew clutched her head and curled into a tiny ball, whining pitifully. “Meww…”

August sighed. “You’re the only Pokémon silly enough to swallow an entire ice cream scoop in one bite. Brain freeze, right? Still denying it?”

Gently, August pressed his warm palm against Mew’s chilly head, easing her discomfort.

Mew gradually relaxed, eventually nuzzling August’s palm contentedly. “Mew~”

Hoopa, having distributed ice cream to everyone, saw Mew had appeared and handed her another cone.

“Mew, she—” August began, but before he could finish, Mew eagerly leapt from his arms, grabbing the new ice cream enthusiastically.

“…Your memory rivals a Slowpoke’s.”

She’d forgotten her brain freeze almost instantly. Mew really was beyond saving.

At this moment, Rosa timidly approached August.

“Mr. August...”

August turned, beaming warmly. “Decided to join the International Police after all? Excellent choice! You definitely won’t regret it.”

Before Rosa could reply, August handed her a Kanto Division rookie package, swiftly inviting her to the group chat. “Just accept it and choose your nickname.”

Confused, Rosa automatically accepted the invite.

[Rosa joined the chat!]

[PsychicPrettyGirl]: Oh? Another newcomer? Judging by the name, another girl?

[Rayquaza#1]: Not just any girl—an extremely pretty one!

[PsychicPrettyGirl]: Hmm? [August_narrowed_eyes.jpg

[CallMeYoungMasterGary]: Cool expression! Saved!

[GoldenBoy]: +1

[Rayquaza#1]: +1

[Psychic_Pretty_Girl]: Saving it is fine, but shouldn’t you ask August first? @GardevoirSupremacy(lol)

[GardevoirSupremacy]: Sure, I’m generous like that.

Before Gary and the others could breathe easy:

['CallMeYoungMasterGary’ was muted.]

[‘GoldenBoy’ was muted.]

[‘Rayquaza#1’ was muted.]

Rosa stared blankly at her screen, realizing what she'd accidentally done. She nearly burst into tears.

I wasn’t planning to join! I just wanted to say goodbye to August!

Yet, seeing Gary trembling under August’s intimidating stare, Rosa couldn’t muster the courage to refuse now. She quietly persuaded herself joining was the right decision. At least the International Police was a righteous organization…

She carefully edited her nickname.

[‘Rosa’ changed their nickname to ‘RosaHatesGoingHungry.’]

August saw Rosa’s new nickname and immediately thought she’d have plenty to discuss with Mew.

Just then, Zinnia cautiously entered the room alongside Gardevoir, carrying souvenirs.

“You don’t have to look so scared,” August said calmly. “Do I look that petty to you?”

Gary internally screamed: You’re absolutely petty! Who else would mute people for saving a meme?!

But Zinnia took August at face value, sighing in relief. “I knew you wouldn’t hold grudges over small things!”

August smiled gently.

Suddenly, Zinnia spoke up again, excitedly, “August! On our way back, Gardevoir and I ran into a Pokémon I’ve never seen before!”

August’s eyebrows rose skeptically. “A Pokémon you’ve never seen?”

“Yep!” Zinnia nodded rapidly. “She’s right behind Gardevoir!”

The door opened again, and Gardevoir entered, gently leading another Pokémon inside.

It had flowing green hair patterned like musical bars, a delicate figure, note-shaped decorations adorning its head, and bright emerald eyes. It shyly blinked at everyone before quickly hiding behind Gardevoir, only her head peeking out.

“Melo?”

Meloetta?!

August stared incredulously at Zinnia. You ran into Meloetta just like that? Gary often bragged about his luck with legendary Pokémon, but Zinnia’s wasn’t far behind.

Noticing August’s stare, Zinnia quickly explained, “We saw her outside a music shop. As soon as she saw Gardevoir, she started following her around. Seems she really likes Gardevoir.”

August turned questioningly to Gardevoir, who shook her head, equally baffled.

Realizing no one meant harm, Meloetta cautiously stepped out from behind Gardevoir, curtsying elegantly. “Melo~”

At that moment, Mew, having just finished her ice cream, perked up excitedly.

“Mew!” Without hesitation, Mew launched herself at Meloetta, tackling her to the floor and happily nuzzling her.

“Melo!” Meloetta struggled beneath Mew’s affectionate attack, forced to transform.

Melodious notes filled the room, her green hair turning bright orange as she assumed Pirouette Forme, finally managing to pry Mew off.

“Melo!” Meloetta scolded Mew sternly, though Mew simply stuck out her tongue impishly.

“You two…know each other?” August asked curiously.

Mew eagerly flew Meloetta over despite her struggles, explaining to August.

Though Mew was the guardian of the Tree of Beginning, she often left the Regis in charge while exploring the world herself. She’d met Meloetta during these travels, quickly becoming friends.

Meloetta nodded wearily, confirming Mew’s story.

“So why were you following Gardevoir?” August asked Meloetta gently.

At Gardevoir’s mention, Meloetta’s eyes sparkled. She explained eagerly to August.

“You heard Gardevoir’s singing…on TV? Someone kept replaying footage from the World Tournament?”

Meloetta nodded enthusiastically.

“Outrageous!” August growled.

Gary cautiously intervened, “August, calm down…”

“They broadcasted Gardevoir’s song repeatedly without paying us royalties!” August finished indignantly.

Everyone else: “…”

That’s your complaint?!

In the end, August reluctantly dropped the idea of collecting royalties.

As Meloetta gracefully sipped juice, August glanced between her elegance and Mew’s lazy, snack-filled belly.

“Mew, can’t you learn something from Meloetta?”

“Mew?” Mew tilted her head innocently, not seeing the problem.

August sighed deeply. It was hopeless. Mew was beyond fixing.

Meloetta watched carefully, wondering just what had happened to her friend in their time apart. Her intuition told her the human before her was somehow responsible.
