Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [525]

“I told you disguising ourselves as trees was unreliable!” Gary grumbled loudly.

August raised his hand, signaling Mewtwo beside him to subdue the charging Team Plasma grunts with [Psychic]. Then he turned slowly to Gary, an eyebrow raised.

“What, you have an issue with my plans?”

Gary flinched. “…I was just offering constructive criticism, nothing personal, August. Don't misunderstand…”

“So you're saying you still have an issue with my arrangements, then?”

Gary: “…”

This guy is impossible!

Gary suddenly felt as if normal conversation with August had become entirely impossible.

Meanwhile, everyone on the battlefield had snapped out of their momentary shock.

Team Plasma quickly assumed battle stances, throwing out Poké Balls and surrounding August’s team.

But the Team Rocket trio…

“It's Boss Giovanni, meow~!” Meowth shouted excitedly, trembling and pointing at Giovanni standing calmly beside August.

Jessie and James immediately grew excited too, though James, being the smarter of the trio, quickly regained his composure.

“But wasn't the boss captured by August? Why would he be standing next to him now?” James reasonably asked.

Jessie and Meowth paused mid-celebration, startled by this realization.

Right…wasn't Boss Giovanni supposed to be locked up? How could he be standing casually next to August like that?

“Could it be he's an impostor?” Jessie asked suspiciously.

“I heard August has a Mew capable of transforming—maybe the boss is really just Mew in disguise, meow?” Meowth speculated.

After some frantic whispering, the trio unanimously agreed the Giovanni standing with August was definitely fake.

Absolutely impossible!

As elite Team Rocket operatives, they knew exactly how powerful Giovanni was. If August truly captured him, he'd never be foolish enough to let Giovanni out, especially not casually standing by his side!

If August dared, Boss Giovanni would surely escape immediately and return triumphantly.

Utterly convinced of Giovanni’s greatness, the trio concluded that this “Giovanni” was a fake, a trick by August to lure them out, trap them, and destroy any chance of Team Rocket's revival.

Rather than joining Team Plasma’s charge against August, they quietly stepped back, preparing to flee.

Having experienced August's overwhelming power firsthand back in Kanto, they knew that despite Plasma's numbers, August alone was more than enough to crush them.

But how can we warn N and escape together…?

Meanwhile, Giovanni—having silently observed their antics—frowned slightly.

What in the world are those idiots muttering about now?

Even as their former leader, Giovanni often had no idea what went through their peculiar heads…

Still, he didn't bother dwelling on it.

Though idiotic, those three had always proven surprisingly adept at escaping. Giovanni had planned to contact them, hoping to use whatever harebrained scheme they had in mind as a cover for his own escape.

Just as he prepared to move, however, a group of Plasma grunts recklessly charged at him with their Pokémon.

Giovanni’s brow furrowed coldly.

Quietly, he released Beedrill from its Poké Ball. A blur of white flashed by, and in the next instant, the Liepard, Kingambit, and Absol rushing toward him flew backward, crashing painfully to the ground.

“Out of my way!” Giovanni commanded coldly.

As the Plasma trainers recoiled fearfully, Giovanni glanced toward the trio again, only to find Jessie, James, and Meowth had vanished.

Giovanni: “…???”

Did those three idiots actually abandon me and run away?

He had never felt this tired in his life.

Even when August stole his hard-earned Mewtwo right before his eyes, Giovanni hadn't felt this deep sense of helplessness.

Watching Giovanni and the trio with interest, August added fuel to the fire casually. “Looks like you’re outdated, Giovanni. They’ve probably already found themselves a new boss.”

Giovanni’s brow twitched.

A new leader? That brat named N?

Despite his thoughts, Giovanni maintained a calm façade. “Save your breath. Do you really think I'd fall for such obvious provocation?”

August shrugged, knocking aside a few more reckless Plasma grunts. His gaze turned upwards toward the top of Dragonspiral Tower, sensing the powerful Aura gathering there.

It's time.

“Gary, I’ll leave things here to you!” August announced. “Zinnia, don’t use Rayquaza yet. Wait for my signal!”

Handing command temporarily to Gary, August grabbed Zinnia, who was eagerly preparing to unleash Rayquaza to impress Iris.

“Giovanni, Black—let’s move!”

Mewtwo nodded, enveloping August, Giovanni, and Black in psychic energy, swiftly carrying them toward the top of the tower.

---

Although the tower was high, the chaos below hadn't escaped the notice of N and Ghetsis.

“What’s happening down there?” N asked calmly.

Ghetsis, in communication with the Plasma grunts below, bowed deeply. “The League is trying to stop you from awakening Reshiram… My King, please hurry and awaken it!”

Perhaps influenced by what Team Rocket had told him earlier, N suddenly felt Ghetsis’s eagerness was slightly suspicious…

But logically, Ghetsis’s urgency made sense. Their forces were under siege below—it was precisely the moment Reshiram was needed.

Dismissing his doubts, N raised the pure white Light Stone high in his hands. A melancholic determination shone in his eyes.

“O dragon who founded Unova, dragon of Truth—hear my call. Witness the truth in my heart… Awaken, Reshiram!”

Truthfully, N was more suited to the dragon of ideals, Zekrom, but since August had already claimed the Dark Stone, N had no choice but to settle for Reshiram.

At N’s call, the Light Stone emitted blinding rays of brilliant white.

The dazzling radiance forced everyone to avert their eyes momentarily. When the brilliance faded, a majestic white dragon stood before N.

Its pristine feathers fluttered in the wind, massive wings stretching imposingly. Its tail, though not yet blazing, radiated scorching heat, raising the temperature atop the tower dramatically.

“So this is the legendary dragon, Reshiram…”

Behind N, the Seven Sages looked on with excitement. Successfully awakening Reshiram meant their dream of a Pokémon-human utopia was finally within reach.

Ghetsis, too, stared intently, though with far more intense eyes than the others. He had always known N had the potential to summon Reshiram—and now, his judgment had been proven correct.

Reshiram stared deeply into N’s eyes, as if reading his very soul. N steadily raised a hand toward the dragon.

“Join me, Reshiram, and witness this world’s truth together!”

In response, Reshiram released a searing wave of heat toward N. The scorching air caused his green hair to curl slightly. Yet N stood firm, unflinching despite the pain and sweat rolling down his forehead.

Their eyes remained locked, until finally, Reshiram pulled back its intense heat, signaling acceptance.

Behind them, the Seven Sages visibly relaxed, elated.

Reshiram has chosen our king!

But just as the solemn atmosphere settled, panicked shouts erupted from the tower’s entrance.

“Bad news, N! August is here—we've got to run!”

All eyes, including Reshiram’s, turned instantly toward the commotion, spotting Team Rocket’s trio stumbling into view, clearly terrified.

“What nonsense! How dare you disrupt such a sacred ceremony!” Sage Gorm scolded sharply, echoed angrily by the others.

Luckily, Reshiram had already accepted their king. Otherwise, interrupting such an event would have been unforgivable.

But Team Rocket ignored their scolding entirely.

Even back at Team Rocket HQ, they'd ignored Matori's lectures completely. The only one they respected was Giovanni himself—N was merely secondary. As for the Seven Sages… Who were they anyway?

Unbothered by the trio’s intrusion, N nevertheless ignored their plea to flee.

Glancing calmly at Reshiram beside him, N spoke evenly. “Perfect timing. I’ve always wanted to meet August face-to-face.”

Hearing this, the trio panicked even more.

N doesn't know August, but we do!

“N, you don’t understand—August is that kind of… that kind of…” Jessie fumbled desperately for words.

Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed from just outside the tower:

“That kind of what?”

Everyone turned reflexively toward the sound.

August, Giovanni, Black, and Mewtwo landed smoothly atop the tower. August wore an amused expression, watching the terrified trio closely.

Jessie, James, and Meowth froze instantly, horror vividly painted on their faces. Never had they imagined August would directly confront them—with that fake Giovanni at his side!

Had they just walked straight into a trap?

They cursed their own stupidity.

“Why aren’t you finishing your sentence? Just what kind of person am I?” August asked, smiling brightly.

That bright smile seemed positively demonic to the trio.

Giovanni silently looked away, thoroughly embarrassed.

Can I still kick them out of Team Rocket? They’ve utterly disgraced me.

At that moment, N stepped forward.

Though they'd just met, he already considered the trio his friends. N and Reshiram moved protectively in front of them, meeting August’s gaze steadily.

“August, we finally meet,” N greeted calmly. “Father said you're an evil man who enslaves Pokémon, aiding the corrupt League—but I wanted to see for myself.”

August’s brow twitched. He shot Ghetsis a glare.

Slander me again, and you’ll regret it tonight.

Mewtwo fixed Ghetsis with a dangerous stare, ready to eliminate anyone who dared slander August.

Ghetsis’s hidden hands trembled slightly.

Did N have to say that right now, in front of August?

Thankfully, August quickly turned back to N. “And now that you’ve seen me in person, what do you think?”

N shook his head earnestly. “I can sense Pokémon’s emotions, but not humans’. Therefore…”

He took out a Poké Ball. “Let’s battle. That way, I’ll understand what kind of person you really are.”

“You want to battle me?” August nearly laughed aloud at N’s naïveté. Well, at least he’s consistent with my impression of him.

“Fine, you can challenge me—but only if you beat my subordinate first,” August declared.

Black was still trying to figure out who August’s “subordinate” was, when he suddenly felt himself shoved forward.

“You’ve got this, Black!”

Now face-to-face with the enormous Reshiram towering above him, Black’s legs trembled violently.

Are you serious, Boss August…?

Now I finally understand why Gary-senpai keeps secretly saying Boss August isn’t human!

He had been a rookie trainer just two weeks ago!

But before he could protest further, something moved in his arms…
