Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [507]
Added 2025-07-22 10:45:45 +0000 UTCGary had no idea what exactly Nate had learned, but he refused to appear clueless.
So Gary put on an act, nodding sagely as if to say, “Glad you figured it out.”
Meanwhile, August had already handed the list over to Gardevoir. “Gardevoir, pick one!”
Gardevoir tilted her head curiously, but since August asked her to choose...
After a moment of thought, she pointed to a location on the list.
“Alright, here it is. Let’s go!” August glanced back at Nate. “Coming along?”
Nate nodded decisively. He wanted a front-row seat to observe exactly how August handled his missions.
...
It was a narrow alley sandwiched between Castelia’s skyscrapers. Unlike the bright, fashionable Mode Street and bustling Castelia Street, Alley Street rarely saw sunlight, blocked year-round by towering buildings, providing fertile ground for shady dealings—including Team Plasma, which had withdrawn their activities at Ghetsis's orders.
Internally, many Plasma members resented Ghetsis’s directive. In their eyes, everything they did was for Pokémon liberation—so why retreat just because of some negative press?
Two Plasma grunts guarding the door were among those dissatisfied.
“If you ask me, Lord N should be leading Team Plasma!”
“Exactly! Ghetsis is outdated; Team Plasma will decline under his leadership!”
Just as the two grunts imagined how great Team Plasma would become under N’s rule, a voice chimed in from behind them:
“I agree completely!”
“Right? Everyone thinks so—” Both grunts agreed reflexively, then froze.
Wait. There were only two of them guarding the door. So who was this third person?
Alarmed, both grunts instinctively reached for their Poké Balls, but before their fingers touched them, an invisible force took hold of their bodies.
Their vision went dark, and both instantly lost consciousness.
August casually emerged from around the corner.
Gary followed closely behind him, while Nate silently noted August’s methodical approach, planning to emulate it in the future.
The trio approached the locked iron door. When Nate saw August gesture to Gary, he guessed aloud, “Are we picking the lock?”
But the next moment, Gary simply smirked and tossed out a Poké Ball.
“Rooooar!”
A Nidoking emerged with a fierce bellow, pounding his chest before rushing forward, slamming headfirst into the door under Nate’s astonished gaze.
BOOM!
The door exploded inward, revealing equally stunned Team Plasma members.
Without skipping a beat, August stepped forward as if he'd seen this a thousand times. He called confidently inside, “International Police Kanto Branch conducting an operation! Drop your Poké Balls, hands behind your heads, and squat down!”
Seeing August’s move, Nate seriously doubted these criminals would obediently comply.
Sure enough, after a brief shock, Plasma members threw out their Poké Balls, commanding their Pokémon to attack.
Just as Nate had anticipated—criminal organizations like Plasma wouldn't surrender easily!
But what surprised Nate was August’s relaxed, almost pleased expression—as if something delightful had happened.
“You recorded that, right? Team Plasma not only resisted arrest, but they're actively attacking the police!” August reminded Gary casually.
Only then did Nate notice Gary had already taken out his phone, filming everything with satisfaction.
Nate was somewhat confused, yet deeply impressed.
You can enforce the law like this, too?
He'd heard seniors mention "bait-and-hook" tactics, but this explosive "bait-and-blast" style of August’s was definitely a first!
As the Plasma Pokémon rushed at August, Gardevoir calmly crossed her arms in front of her chest.
The next instant—
BOOM!
Invisible psychic power erupted outward like a tidal wave, extinguishing every incoming attack and scattering all enemy Pokémon.
Team Plasma’s trainers and Pokémon collapsed chaotically in one heap, moaning pitifully. In that moment, trainers and Pokémon truly achieved equality.
Sweeping a glance over the groaning Plasma members, August announced loudly, “Unlawful assembly, resisting arrest, and assaulting officers. You're all under arrest!”
...
From Alley Street to the Port District, even down to Castelia Sewers...
August thoroughly cleaned up every Plasma hideout listed by Nate. Having followed August the entire time, Nate had gained firsthand understanding of what true efficiency meant.
Excluding travel time, each hideout was dealt with in under fifteen minutes—so fast, in fact, that even Castelia’s Officer Jennys couldn't keep up with how quickly August delivered captives.
“So, this is the Kanto Branch’s efficiency…” August left an incredibly deep impression on Nate.
But after handling the last Plasma member, August appeared dissatisfied.
He'd swept through all of Castelia, yet hadn't found a single Sage, nor even a mid-level Plasma executive…
Noticing August’s displeasure, Gary thoughtfully approached a female Plasma grunt nearby, interrogating her directly:
“Hey, where have your executives gone?”
“I’ll never betray Team Plasma or Lord N!” the girl proclaimed stubbornly.
Far from disappointed, Gary perked up immediately. “Never betray, huh? So you actually do know something!”
The girl’s expression froze momentarily.
Yet she remained determined to say nothing. For Lord N, she would never yield!
After several unsuccessful attempts, threats, and intimidation failing completely, Gary shamefully turned to August for help.
August sighed deeply.
Gary, you’re embarrassing me here…
You can't even handle one little girl?
Under Gary’s embarrassed gaze, August stepped forward calmly, addressing the girl gently: “You know, we're not actually enemies.”
The girl clearly didn’t believe him, maintaining a guarded expression.
Seeing her doubt, August continued calmly, “Right now, the real problem in Team Plasma is Ghetsis. Think about it—isn't he responsible for Team Plasma’s current mess? If this continues, Team Plasma's reputation will only get worse. You wouldn’t want N to end up imprisoned because of Ghetsis, would you?”
Hearing August’s words, the girl's determination visibly wavered.
August pressed his advantage. “Tell me what you know about Ghetsis. Let me catch him and remove the obstacle to N’s vision for Team Plasma. Isn’t that the best outcome for everyone?”
She seemed genuinely shaken now.
At this moment, she heard August muttering softly to himself, “Hmm, if N gets arrested, will he serve ten years or twenty? Poor innocent N, manipulated by that schemer Ghetsis...”
Finally, she couldn't hold back anymore.
“I’ll talk! But please, spare Lord N!”
August made no promises, simply smiling kindly, “Go ahead.”
As the girl began spilling every piece of information she had, Gary stood by in admiration, giving August a proud thumbs-up.
As expected of you, August!
Observing the entire exchange, Nate mentally noted another lesson learned:
When interrogating suspects, psychological tactics—especially divide-and-conquer—are highly effective for extracting information.
---
News that all of Team Plasma’s hideouts in Castelia had fallen quickly reached Team Plasma's headquarters.
A moment later, the sound of shattering objects echoed through Ghetsis’s office.
August had gone too far this time!
Team Plasma had already retreated proactively, yet August still pursued them relentlessly! He was determined to—
Ghetsis racked his brain but found no good way to counter August. In terms of sheer strength, he was no match, and his previous attempts to sway public opinion had only backfired disastrously.
The more Ghetsis thought, the angrier he became. His expression darkened to a terrifying degree.
His subordinates lowered their heads, avoiding eye contact for fear of provoking his wrath.
Just then, the office door swung open abruptly.
Ghetsis frowned sharply, about to explode in anger, but when he saw who entered, he forced himself to restrain it.
“Oh, it’s you, N!” Ghetsis managed a stiff smile.
“Father…” N regarded Ghetsis with concern. “Are you troubled by something?”
Ghetsis shook his head, feigning calmness. “It’s nothing—just trivial matters…”
“But… I heard someone say our organization is under threat. Is it true, Father?” N asked earnestly.
A throbbing headache seized Ghetsis.
Who told N about this? Still, he maintained composure and answered calmly, “You don’t need to worry about that. I'll handle it. Your task is to find Zekrom and use its power to achieve our shared ideal.”
“To create a world where Pokémon can live happily!”
Seeing the anticipation in Ghetsis’s eyes, N felt the weight of expectation and nodded solemnly.
“I understand, Father!”
Watching N leave, Ghetsis kept his hopeful expression until the door fully closed. Only then did his face twist again into a dark scowl.
“Find out who’s been leaking information to N!”
N was crucial to keeping Team Plasma unified. He absolutely would not tolerate anyone influencing N other than himself. Absolutely not!
“Also, inform our operatives outside to beware of the International Police. And capture Victini as soon as possible—I need its power!”
“Yes, Lord Ghetsis!”
His subordinates bowed respectfully.
None of them noticed three suspicious figures outside the office, eavesdropping intently while pretending to sweep the hallway.
When Ghetsis finally fell silent, the trio quickly ducked into a corner. After the remaining Plasma members departed, they huddled together urgently.
“We seem to have overheard something huge,” Jessie whispered.
“So that guy N is actually being manipulated?” James frowned thoughtfully.
“Should we tell him about it, meow?” Meowth suggested. “N seems like a decent guy. And with all his followers in Team Plasma, if we could recruit him into Team Rocket, we might finally have a chance to rescue Boss Giovanni!”
Jessie and James fell into thoughtful silence.
A moment later, their exchanged glances held a clear decision.
Jessie nodded firmly. “Then let's give it a try!”
“But how can we make him trust us?” James worried aloud.
Meowth grinned slyly. “I’ve got a plan—first we do this, then that, meow...”
The trio dove eagerly into yet another round of scheming.
---
Meanwhile, as Ghetsis was ordering tighter control over N and Team Rocket’s trio plotted to sway him—
August finished extracting a pile of intelligence from the captured Plasma girl.
Most of it was trivial, but two bits stood out clearly:
Team Plasma was planning something big in Opelucid City, and they were also preparing to capture Victini at Liberty Garden Island.
“Victini? Why does that name sound familiar…?” Gary scratched his head in confusion.
August gave him an incredulous look. “Sometimes I really wonder if you’re actually Professor Oak’s grandson...”
“What does that have to do with being my grandfather’s grandson!?” Gary protested indignantly.
“Victini, the Victory Pokémon,” August patiently explained. “According to legend, Victini can generate infinite energy. Trainers with Victini are said to win any battle.”
“Win…any battle!?”
Gary’s eyes immediately lit up, fully awake now.
Could such a cool Pokémon really exist?
Winning every battle means…
August read Gary’s expression easily. “You’re not thinking of catching Victini to defeat me, are you?”
Gary waved his hands hurriedly. “How could I? Am I that kind of person?”
Yet…
Seeing Gary desperately trying—and failing—to hide the eager smirk on his face, it was obvious what he really thought.
If Gary truly caught Victini, August knew his first move would definitely be to challenge him to a rematch and finally “avenge his humiliation.”
August chose not to expose Gary further, turning instead to Nate. “We have two missions. Since headquarters sent you here to Unova, I shouldn’t hog all the credit. Choose whichever you want.”
From August’s tone, Nate sensed Team Plasma was already like a Magikarp flopping helplessly on a cutting board.
But considering August’s past record, perhaps it wasn't even an exaggeration...
Before Plasma, countless criminals had already fallen at August’s feet.
Lost in thought, Nate considered his options. Under Gary’s pleading gaze, he mentally applied the interpersonal skills he’d recently noted and decided on Opelucid City, Team Plasma’s so-called big operation.
“Leave Opelucid City to me,” Nate announced.
Hearing Nate’s choice, August suppressed a smile. Nate had no idea, but August knew exactly what Plasma intended there. Unless things changed dramatically, their goal was almost certainly the Dark Stone, capable of awakening Zekrom.
Summoning Zekrom through N had always been Plasma’s ultimate objective.
If Nate’s luck held, he'd likely encounter N and Plasma’s main forces, possibly even witnessing Zekrom’s dramatic revival firsthand.
Having Nate draw out Team Plasma wasn’t a bad idea either.
August reasoned that if he went personally, Plasma wouldn’t dare show themselves at all.
“Before you go, contact Looker first. Also, two of my subordinates are currently acting independently—take them along this time,” August instructed.
This mission had its dangers, after all—more people meant greater safety.
Nate nodded. He didn’t have August’s overwhelming strength and definitely needed support.
“Here are their contacts,” August added Nate as a friend, forwarding him Black’s and White’s information. “Call me immediately if something unexpected happens.”
Nate nodded again firmly.
...
Watching Nate leave, August turned back to Gary, who was lost in daydreams, no doubt imagining himself conquering the world with Victini.
“Snap out of it, you’re drooling…” August nudged Gary gently.
“Huh!?” Gary jolted awake, hurriedly wiping at imaginary drool.
Only then did he realize Nate had already left.
“August, is it really safe letting Nate lead Black and White? He doesn’t seem like the type to take good care of subordinates…”
Though brief, Gary felt Nate wasn’t exactly considerate.
“It’s fine…Hoopa’s with them, right?” August reassured.
Gary relaxed immediately. Right, with Hoopa along, what was there to worry about?
Satisfied, Gary quickly forgot about Nate’s team entirely, eagerly turning to August instead. “So, August, when are we leaving for Liberty Garden Island?”
Victini!
His best chance to defeat August!
“You seem awfully eager?” August teased lightly.
“Not at all! I'm just worried Victini will fall into evil Team Plasma hands if we don't hurry!” Gary proclaimed righteously.
He’d learned this trick from August himself.
August chuckled. “You’re right… Let’s call Zinnia and Caitlin and set out soon.”
He nodded toward Officer Jenny, who had just arrived to collect their latest batch of Plasma prisoners, then calmly walked off.
Watching August’s departing back, Gary clenched his fist determinedly.
Victini, Gary Oak is on his way!
