I, Noelle, Persuade With Reason! [20]

The Hilichurls, enraged, pounded the wall with their clubs but couldn’t climb up.

Noelle cheerfully waved down at them, thoroughly amused.

Paimon drifted closer to Lumine’s ear, whispering urgently, “We must never make Noelle angry.”

Lumine nodded gravely. Though gentle and reliable, Noelle can occasionally become a mischievous little demon.

Amber and Fischl took their time, patiently waiting for Noelle to finish having her fun before drawing their bows to begin the fight.

Noelle herself wasn't interested in dealing with mere Hilichurls—she preferred to admire Amber, Fischl, and Lumine in combat.

Those long legs and slim waists. Still as a flower in calm moments, swift as rabbits when they move. Graceful in leisure, agile in battle.

The contrast captivated Noelle, showcasing the beauty of strength and health.

Rather than jumping down immediately, Amber and Fischl simultaneously drew their bows, infusing their arrows with elemental power. Releasing in unison, their arrows struck the Hilichurls below.

Instantly, the wooden shields burst into flames, electricity crackled, paralyzing their enemies. Fire and lightning merged into an explosive [Overloaded] reaction, sending the three Hilichurls flying.

Amber and Fischl exchanged glances, nodding silently before raising their bows again.

Noelle is watching. If I demonstrate my strength clearly, she'll acknowledge my abilities. Then maybe she'll let me join her in future battles, and together, we'll save the world!

Determined, Fischl rapidly fired arrows with Oz’s help. The rhythmic twang of her bowstring, the whoosh of arrows slicing the air, and their rapid impacts echoed like a Gatling gun, effortlessly defeating the remaining Hilichurls.

Mission complete, Fischl habitually turned her head slightly, elegantly flicking her hair back, and covered her mouth with her hand. She stole a quick glance at Noelle’s reaction, giggling rhythmically.

Truly worthy of being called the Oz-Cannon. But that little glance back—adorably chuuni. Noelle was thoroughly charmed by Fischl’s antics.

Amber, still charging her arrow, suddenly realized her targets were already down. Sheepishly, she lowered her bow.

Lumine stared at her sword, realizing she hadn't even needed to swing it once.

With the Hilichurls dealt with, the group glided down using their Wind Gliders, once again beginning their looting spree.

Lumine rushed to find another chest, Amber ran ahead to scout the next room, and Fischl lingered beside Noelle, clearly wanting to chat but unsure what to say.

Paimon “abandoned” Lumine, knowing Noelle would have food.

Sure enough, Noelle immediately began rummaging through barrels and crates, discovering carrots, cabbages, and wheat.

“Cabbage can be eaten raw. Try it,” Noelle encouraged Paimon, who was nervously holding a cabbage.

“Really?” Paimon hesitated.

“Of course, I wouldn’t trick you.” Noelle spoke honestly.

Reassured, Paimon peeled away the outer leaves and began munching tentatively.

“Oh, it’s actually good!” Paimon excitedly discovered a new treat.

What a little glutton. Smiling, Noelle took out a mushroom from her backpack and handed it to Paimon, who bit down without hesitation.

“Noelle, you lied!” Paimon spat out the mushroom immediately, pouting angrily and floating away, refusing to speak.

“Oz, want a carrot?” Noelle held one out.

Before Oz could reply, Paimon zipped back, snatched the carrot, and pretended nothing had happened, happily munching away.

Having thoroughly cleared another room, the group advanced further.

In the hall ahead, four Hilichurls stood guard around a treasure chest.

Fischl quickly took initiative, attacking while simultaneously glancing at Noelle to gauge her reaction, multitasking skillfully.

But then, she accidentally struck an explosive barrel.

A deafening explosion echoed through the hall, the shockwave blowing Paimon away and instantly raising the room's temperature.

Fortunately, Fischl, being an experienced adventurer, had maintained a safe distance. Nobody was hurt, though the unexpected noise startled everyone slightly.

“I'm so sorry—I was careless!” Fischl apologized frantically, terrified of disappointing Noelle.

Noelle and Amber exchanged puzzled glances. Why was Fischl so guilty? Accidents like these were common while adventuring. Moreover, none present were ordinary people—a minor explosion was hardly cause for concern.

Nonetheless, Noelle quickly approached Fischl, gently tousling her hair.

“Don’t worry about it. Nobody got hurt, right?” Noelle comforted her warmly.

Relieved, Fischl nodded obediently, feeling a weight lifted off her chest.

At this moment, the sole "victim," Paimon, finally fluttered back.

After regrouping, the party exited the hall only to discover a broken pathway ahead.

Noelle cautiously leaned forward to peek downward—an endless abyss greeted her. She quickly stepped back, losing interest.

“Activating this [Pyro Monument] should create a wind current. We can glide across easily,” Amber explained cheerfully.

Noelle swallowed nervously, stepping back unconsciously. I didn’t expect there’d be gliding here!

She hated to admit it, but despite being incredibly strong, she still suffered from severe acrophobia!

Realistically, even if she fell, she’d likely survive easily. Her [Breastplate] shield could withstand the impact, and the Wind Glider would slow her descent.

Yet, fear was irrational.

Amber swiftly activated the [Pyro Monument], summoning a strong wind current, perfect for gliding to the other side.

“Let's go!” Amber confidently leaped off, spreading her wings after a few meters and soaring gracefully upward.

Fischl and Lumine quickly followed. Only Noelle stood frozen, hesitating.

After flying a few seconds, the girls noticed Noelle hadn’t moved. They turned around and returned, hovering nearby, watching her expectantly.

You can do this. You won’t die. Just jump! Fischl and the others are waiting!

Noelle gritted her teeth, closed her eyes, and bravely leaped forward. The intense wind nearly took her breath away; the sudden weightlessness made her panic instantly.

Thankfully, the Wind Glider activated smoothly, lifting her gently upward.

Opening her eyes cautiously, Noelle saw nothing beneath her, yet felt oddly secure—as though invisible hands supported her.

Don’t look down. Don’t retract your wings. Just focus ahead. Pretend you're swimming. Noelle steadied herself, flying slowly forward.

Amber quickly noticed Noelle’s distress and flew closer, grabbing her hand.

“Let’s cross together!” Amber called cheerfully, the strong wind slightly distorting her words.

Amber, you’re my guardian angel. With Amber’s reassurance, Noelle finally calmed down, successfully landing beside her friend.

Although Amber, Fischl, and Lumine were curious why Noelle feared heights, they compassionately avoided asking, only inquiring if she was alright or needed rest.

After Noelle reassured them, they continued onward. Smashing the stone filled with Anemo energy, they turned to leave.

“How do people usually exit domains in the game?” Noelle asked hopefully, craving a simpler solution.

Unfortunately, reality was harsh—they had to return the way they came.

Meaning Noelle would have to fly again.

Oh I would fear falling as well. Fear really is irrational.
