Poly Milestone Ramble

So the few quick times Max has been here she’s only seen my children in passing. Today she hung out with us. For my shy monogamous not-a-kid-person girlfriend this was pretty fucking brave. I figured she would hang for an hour and politely excuse herself but she spent the afternoon participating in games, listening to obnoxious recorder solos and being aggressively kissed by the pup. All, in her words, completely worth it to be near me.

I was nervous about this clash of Me’s. Mom Me and the Me that is hers. She only ever sees me with the coven, or on her own. Just a slice of all of the Me I can be. Mom Me is a different side. But it wasn’t as weird as I thought it would be! It felt pretty natural. AND the kids managed to avoid telling that one embarrassing story that they LOVE telling people because it drives me bananas! (Which was wise on their part because it won’t be long before they’re bringing someone home to meet me mwahaha!)

She and my eldest bonded over teasing me for being old, and she and my youngest bonded over their mutual love of riling the dog up. (Brats!) We held hands and sat close to each other, and kissed softly and sneakily when they ran outside to play in the backyard. Nobody got weirded out and everyone enjoyed each others company. My husband even stopped in to pick up some tools for work and say hello. If you’d told her a year ago that THIS was the date she’d be looking forward to this week she never would have believed it.
