Agreed. I will admit, it's my favorite of the Double Agent's when it comes to mission design, but I agree the FOV is definitely lacking. He also didn't do the "Training", so he hasn't been explained some of the new mechanics and what not.

Looking at this game with fresh eyes, I can completely understand your frustrations. Even without the gameplay issues, I think it mainly suffers from experimenting with new ideas and trying out a new style while ignoring the lessons learned from previous titles. I mainly appreciate the "immersive" (for lack of a better word) espionage stuff, which was brand new to me at the time.
While I enjoyed this game, it was never my favourite and unfortunately, this more "cinematic" style bleeds into the future games in the series and sapped the fun out for me; I think this is the last Splinter Cell game I actually played to completion.
Having said that, there are some upcoming missions that I still remember which I think are an improvement on these first few.
