The salon door had barely shut behind them when Ember looped her arm through Dani’s, their heels clicking in sync as they stepped into the spring sunlight. He still felt off-balance—like he hadn’t quite caught up to everything the afternoon had done to him. His freshly bleached hair bounced lightly with every step, the icy blonde strands brushing his shoulders in soft waves. The bodysuit stretched snug over the breast forms, their shape pressing softly against him and bouncing slightly with each click of his heels. The vinyl pants squeaked softly with each step, gripping tight around his hips and thighs with every move. He kept fidgeting with his long nails as they walked, turning his hands to watch the way the glossy tips caught the sunlight.

“You know,” Ember said, her tone light as ever as they strolled down the sidewalk, “it might be fun if you stayed with me for a while… y’know. As Dani.”

His heart fluttered at the idea.

“That… might be fun,” he mumbled, eyes flicking down at the sidewalk. “J-Just for a bit, though.” His cheeks were burning hot. He toyed with his nails, letting the glossy tips distract him.

Ember gave a little knowing smirk. “Mhmm. Just for a bit.”

He swallowed and nodded.

The “bit” turned into days. The days blurred into weeks.

Ember started teaching him little things—how to do his makeup, how to paint his nails. They went shopping together, picking out outfits that were cute, flirty, and always just a little more feminine than the last.

Somewhere along the way, things began to shift.

His voice was starting to soften. His laugh was getting higher, more playful. He’d begun talking with his hands, wrists always loose, fingers fluttering when he got excited. Words like “literally” and “so cute” kept slipping out without him meaning to, and he found himself bouncing on the balls of his feet whenever he was happy.

Ember never said anything. She didn’t need to. She just watched, smiling to herself, as Dani slipped deeper into the girl he was becoming.

Later one evening, Dani was curled up at the far end of the couch, absently playing with the ends of his silky hair, half-focused on whatever was playing on the TV when Ember glanced over.

“I think it’s time you started hormones,” she said casually, like she was talking about the weather.

Dani stiffened, blinking fast.

“W-What? That’s—like, that’s crazy,” he stammered. “I-I’m not actually a girl or anything, this is just… y’know, just for fun…”

Ember groaned, cutting him off with a dramatic eye roll. “Girl. Please. You’re already girlier than all my other girlfriends. I watched you reapply your lip gloss three times just to make sure it was shiny enough. And don’t even try to pretend you didn’t spend twenty minutes last night picking between three different skirts.”

“I-I just…” he trailed off.

But Ember was on a roll now, ticking off fingers like she was listing groceries.

“Softer skin. Fuller hips. Rounder cheeks. Shinier hair. Real boobs,” she said. She grinned as Dani flushed deeper with each word. “You already act like a girl, babe. This just makes it… official.”

Dani's breath caught. His fingers idly brushed down his bare thigh, skin still smooth from last night’s shave. One hand drifted up, cupping the soft swell of the breast forms under his cami. He imagined what it would feel like if they were real—warm, sensitive, his. He imagined softer skin. A thinner waist. Plumper lips. A rounder butt pressing into his tight skirts.

“…Okay,” he whispered.

They were at the doctor the next morning.

Dani sat perched on the edge of the chair, hands folded neatly in his lap, his little plaid skirt pleated perfectly around his thighs. The white crop top clung to his chest like it belonged there. He tried not to squirm as the nurse moved around the room, glancing nervously toward Ember—who just smiled at him, calm and reassuring.

As they stepped out of the clinic, Dani felt it settle in his chest—this was it. No going back. He had actually done it. Or… she had. He blinked at the thought, heart fluttering. Guess it’s she now…
