I'm glad I finally got to watch this one! Your determination really paid off :D It's so interesting to hear that some of the shots mirror the panels from the graphic novel. I'll have to try to find some side by side comparisons!

Ohh huh. I didn't know he did the DC movies. I enjoyed the few I saw well enough, but I don't remember them feeling as stylized as this one, with the exception of Watchmen.

I loved your reaction! This is a bit of a guilty pleasure movie foe me. Just some epic fun with great action and a bunch of fun, not every movie has to be deep or life changing after all and i'm glad to see that you enjoyed it like that. The visual style is indeed beautiful and like you said like it's lifted from a painting... or a graphic novel in this case. I have it and several iconic shots in this movie are exactly like the panels in the graphic novel down to the angle and the framing. Fun fact, the spartan that loses his eye and narates the story is the same actor who played Faramir in The lord of the rings! I also figured you were owed some eye candy for all you share with us 😉 Spartan cosplay shoot in the future maybe? All you need is a cape after all... i'm kidding of course. Although one of the dresses the queen wears would look amazing on you no doubt!

Ah, Zack Snyder. A very divisive director. Personally I’ve always found him to be very hit or miss. He definitely has a distinctive visual style which sometimes works and sometimes… not so much. This is probably the the best of his films IMO. I really didn’t care for his DC movies (at times his “dark, desaturated” look can end up not so much moody and atmospheric, as it is in 300, as being the cinematic equivalent of experiencing having cataracts.) And his signature slow-mo/fast-mo technique can get to be a bit much. But he did a great job with this one. Fun reaction Bunnytails! Heh… “Thirsty” I see what you did there. ;)

Not my cup of tea.....next!
