I thought the premise of Corn Boys was that Vito was the main character who takes comic book movies seriously and he chats about them with a normal friend who leaves to get popcorn refills several times during the movie and therefore misses key plot points, and the normal friend offers general impressions and opinions that aren’t grounded in nerd-level knowledge to which Vito adds more informed commentary. It seems neither too serious nor too silly and a good balance as a Vito + normal friend dynamic.
