Hi there!

You might be surprised to see a post like this one from me.

I don't fully know why, but I had the strong urge to record a German fairy tale.

As much as I may be a full-time VA now, I'm very much an amateur and I have no clue what I'm doing. I thought my urge to record this might be a great learning opportunity. Reading a long story like this (and trying to make it sound decent) without any room for improv might be a good way to practise the craft, train my voice and see where I can improve. I really want to become better at what I do.

So, I suppose I'm sharing an exercise or a piece of my VA journey with you.

I learned that it is harder than I thought. Coming up with voices on the spot (and keeping them consistent), keeping up my "Narrator Voice" for half an hour and having somewhat clear annunciation becomes more and more difficult the longer I read. That means I already learned quite a bit - going through it there is so much that I would do differently next time. It was an interesting experience. I left it mostly unedited - just cut out retakes (so many retakes) and added a cozy bonfire sound.

Is this the greatest reading of Schneewittchen ever? No. But those of you who enjoy my voice and like the thought of falling asleep to a German fairy tale, may get something out of it.
