Town & City Assets Pt.2

I've really been in an asset making mood this last week! Right after the Bandit Camp Assets I jumped into this one, since I just didn't think one pack of city assets was enough.

This one is a little different though. First of all, it will soon be available for customization in the Token Editor. Second, all of these pre-colored assets have a DPI setting, meaning they will all import into image editors already scaled. An overdue feature, I know! Even after all these years I'm still learning my way around Photoshop.

There are 128 assets in the pre-colored ZIP, which I hope will satisfy you until they are imported into the Token Editor next month and the possibilities really open up. If you want even more varieties, I recommend layering the buildings and thereby creating new, larger ones. You might even dabble with hue shifts and colorization filters to mix up the roof colors.

As for the base on which to place these, I recommend the textures inside the Grass & Road Assets. For coastal towns, be sure to also download the River & Water Assets.

I really can't wait to see the settlements you create! Please be sure to share them in the Community Posts section. :)

EDIT:
I've put together a little demonstration map using these assets. I call it "Highway Town" for the search engine optimization, but I'm sure you can do better. Enjoy!

Thanks to you, these assets are released under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license, beginning the 20th of July, 2019.

I will keep those in mind, thanks!

Thank you for the great work, I love those and use them a lot with Dungeon Painter Studio! Is there a chance to get a windmill and watermill?

Excellent!

Hmm, interesting idea with the city blocks! I can certainly see it happening. As for cobble stone, I would use the pattern in here: https://2minutetabletop.com/gallery/grass-road-assets/ I used the grass for the map above. :)

This is freakishly AWESOME. That's exactly what I need to really get my world going using your style. Quick questions: 1) For town, a cobble stone background would be required. Is that in the making? 2) For really large cities, do you think you'll do a smaller scale version? Like tokens for whole city blocs, wall, citadel, park, temple...?

Maxime Durocher

Can do, Justin. :)

I love your work, and I probably use it more than any other set of assets I've collected to build maps for my group out of your dungeon and cave builder pieces and the tokens you've released for mansion furniture, etc. I do have one tiny request if its possible to fit it into your workflow though. I noticed on the last two asset packs you released this one, and the bandit camp you named all the assets by number, part of what made your asset pack great is that I can put them in a folder with the other dozens of packs I've collected and easily search for assets by name. I can't really do that with these and it makes them harder to work with until I rename all of them one at a time. I'm probably not the only one that likes them being search-able so if it works out that would be a great thing to go back to for future packs if it isn't too much trouble.

Man, I'd love to see some photos, Kyle!

These assets are great! I have access to a laser cutter, so I'm going to etch and paint map tiles with these on them, I can even do 2.5d that way. The simplicity of your style ought to lend itself well to the laser cut, as it sorta caps out at 10 layers of contrast :D.

Kyle Kettner (STL Life Production)

Okey, great :) I will redownload once it is done. Would be shame to not find them later on. And I have to share my creation with these, I hope it will be worth it :-)

Monty Bezdíček

That's a product of the time crunch and the fact that I have to name them for the Token Editor later anyway. Soon soon.

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

You can post it in the community section, I'd love to see it.

Ross from 2-Minute Tabletop

I was just in the process of building a large town out for my group when I saw you released these. If I could attach my final map (some of my photoshop work and your tokens and my players had a good idea of the layout of the town. If I could attach it here, I would.

Yeah you’ve done it! Thanks mate :)

Valentin

I have just noticed that the images are just numbered and not named so it will be harder to search for specific stuff, the same for the bandit camp. Do you plan to name the assets or you will keep to just number them from now on?

Monty Bezdíček

I have been postponing creation of a big city for last three weeks but must do it this week so this is blessing as I can now create city using only your assets so it will look so much better :-)

Monty Bezdíček

These are so gorgeous man, you inspire me every week.

Dungeon Mapster

Thank you Warren!

Thanks! I missed that one apparently. : )

Maxime Durocher

Oh hell yeah

Today? It must be fate. :)
