Poll – The Future of Token Packs
Added 2019-05-31 14:05:01 +0000 UTCDo you want more tokens, though only ten at a time, or shall I focus on maps?
Please do let me know with a vote, and a comment if you have the time.
I have to admit, making the sea monster tokens nearly killed me! Okay, that's an over-exaggeration, but it's true that they are to blame for everything being squeezed into these last few days of the month. After working on them, I realized that I have to present this question to you.
I originally chose "twenty" as an arbitrary goal when I started drawing token packs, but the intricacies of preparing them makes this number unfeasible going forward. That said, I do enjoy drawing tokens, and I would love to draw ten as one of our four content releases per month.
If we continue creating tokens we will be jumping around the Monster Manual, beginning with the most typical, oft-used creatures. For the most iconic, I want to draw a complete token pack just for them. For example, a goblin pack that includes token for everything from a goblin warlord to goblin slave, whereas a woodland creature pack would contain a mixture of ten mundane animals from wolves to deer.
What do you think? Really, please let me know, and I will be back to work early next month (after a short break, whew!) probably starting with another set of tokens.
See you soon with our monthly update post. Enjoy!
* By "maps" I mean battle maps, town maps, and map-related assets such as furniture packs or build-your-own-forest assets.

I love the tokens! Where is the option for 20 tokens and 2 maps? LOL
2019-06-28 18:58:36 +0000 UTCpersonally I lean to maps cause I use the 5x5 circle tokens more than anything lol also I love your assets

2019-06-09 15:19:13 +0000 UTCI absolutely agree, it's so hard to find stuff that looks good on these amazing maps!

2019-06-02 09:59:16 +0000 UTCThe monster tokens would be incredibly useful -- I love the maps, but currently scrounge for images to use as tokens for something like an owlbear or Dire wolf, and it looks totally different from the map and hero styles, especially when trying to resize them proportionally on roll20 (huge, gigantic, etc). It offends my artistic sensibilities. XD

2019-06-01 18:49:38 +0000 UTCMap tokens were a huge boon to my games, even though I didn't use hero or monster tokens.
2019-06-01 18:15:27 +0000 UTCI'm about to get SO much use out of the recent token set, so maybe I'm biased, but I love a mix of maps and tokens.
2019-06-01 16:30:00 +0000 UTCI love the map-making assets you put out, so that's where my vote goes!
2019-06-01 12:23:10 +0000 UTCMaps for me - definitely. -with maybe some tokens associated with the map so it comes in complete package :)
2019-06-01 08:40:09 +0000 UTCHmm will give this some thought!

2019-06-01 06:03:26 +0000 UTCPersonally, I'm more for build your own map kind of things, like doing cities and villages would be great. So more map stuff.

2019-06-01 03:48:24 +0000 UTCI already have a lot of tokens available, I'd much rather see maps, as they are much more usable than some of the tokens (which are oddly specific).

2019-06-01 00:39:16 +0000 UTCIf you had a separate account that I could subscribe to that did tokens and kept this one for maps I would use both, that way users that only wanted maps wouldn't feel like they had to pay for/subsidize the tokens
2019-05-31 20:21:54 +0000 UTCMan this is a tough choice, although for me I think more maps is more what I'm looking for. In any case, thanks for all your hard work!

2019-05-31 20:11:46 +0000 UTCI find that your hand drawn style is very neat and balances out and contrasts well with other tokens, better than your own tokens. I like your tokens, they look cool, but used on your maps they can easily get lost in or look too similar to terrain. So I prefer tokens that pop out more. I came here for the great maps, lol.

2019-05-31 19:56:49 +0000 UTCI don't need or use tokens, but you should feel free to make a few at a time if it's something you enjoy! Maybe once a season, instead of once a month? My preference will always be for maps and set pieces--I'd take one map over twenty tokens--but it's important that you do what's feasible rather than wear yourself out on something that isn't as fun.

2019-05-31 19:13:14 +0000 UTCI voted for the tokens, with the caveat that if the 4 maps is more comfortable for you, you should go with that! I love the tokens, but I love the maps too so it's really win-win...

2019-05-31 18:33:04 +0000 UTCI get a lot of use out of maps. I don't get any use out of tokens. I don't mind them, but maps are what I'm paying for.

2019-05-31 17:51:39 +0000 UTCI effin' love the tokens. It'd be a crying shame for you to not continue doing them, especially since you enjoy them.

2019-05-31 16:34:31 +0000 UTCI use plenty of stamps myself but had never found Token Stamp, thanks for telling me about it!

2019-05-31 16:08:04 +0000 UTCI use Tokenstamp for tokens because I personally feel that portraits create better roleplay (as opposed to a chess-like top-down view) and there's so much great art out there that isn't getting used, and so many great homebrew monsters that will never get top-down tokens. If you switched to monster tokens, I'd probably bounce.

2019-05-31 16:01:00 +0000 UTCMaps maps maps!!

2019-05-31 15:45:00 +0000 UTCI love the tokens, but the way I use maps (with the "official" monster tokens on Roll20) means if the exact one I wanted wasn't drawn, I'd want to stay consistent on every map. So I don't end up using them.

2019-05-31 15:19:05 +0000 UTCYour style is simply too good to not be making tokens. I love the hero packs so much and the style is perfect for what I want to convey. Many other tokens are too realistic, this is the perfect sketch style to awaken the imagination, not supplant it.
Troy White
2019-05-31 15:06:07 +0000 UTCI love the maps, but I need more tokens right now so would love to sacrifice some maps for more awesome tokens.
Lukaluke
2019-05-31 14:56:33 +0000 UTCI think this is a great compromise. I love the maps and I love the tokens. I think a small pack of 10 tokens each month would be perfect!
Abrahm Simons
2019-05-31 14:55:00 +0000 UTCI think maps, specifically I would like to see more big rooms, like the inside of a giant temple or coliseum type, something that would appear inside a bad guy lair. love the work im using it a lot
2019-05-31 14:46:31 +0000 UTCI love the maps, but due to my current situation, the tokens will be much more useful in my GMing and I am excited to see the Token Editor. So, please continue working on them!

2019-05-31 14:41:35 +0000 UTCAll my PCs and humanoid NPCs are represented by the tokens and i use ur map assets to build all my maps so monsters would be a sweet addition.
Taylor Young
2019-05-31 14:35:26 +0000 UTCIf you released only tokens I would still be happy.
2019-05-31 14:24:02 +0000 UTCI love everything, but have started using your tokens in my games
2019-05-31 14:16:20 +0000 UTCPersonally I don't use the tokens that much but you same you enjoy making them so keep making them. I would love to see your take on some of the big baddies of the monster manual!

2019-05-31 14:15:58 +0000 UTCI'm liking the tokens a lot. Adding one into the monthly mix would be cool.
