A Quicker Print Test!

Howdy all! I've uploaded this little model to make it easier to test printer settings. It's just the gear setup from the Planetary Kaleidocycle, but made a bit more.... fidgety đŸ€Ł

You guys continue to give me great feedback on what works and what's tricky, and I really appreciate it. Hopefully this'll help with more quickly testing for the effects of elephant-footing and assessing overall print accuracy!

Creative Printer supporters will find this under Epicyclic Tester on Dropbox!

I've printed at 150% and 200% and it works nicely! It gets a bit loose at 400% but it still works!

Printing this tonight. Does it scale well? I would print this around 50-55mm for people to play with when they visit my office :)

Check out the new version I just uploaded to Dropbox and see whether I understood the problem at all :P It's easy enough to change that stuff, so please do let me know! :)

Oh wait (I'm looking at a section analysis now!) - is the problem where those indents on the outside come in close to the teeth on the inside? I'd post a photo if Patreon supported that in comments :) Feel free to hop onto Discord (link is in the same post that has the dropbox link) if that's an easier way to have this discussion!

Sure thing! Okay, so let me try to understand what specifically we need - is it the teeth themselves that need to be a little broader?

one quick problem you might be able to address! I am printing the inner and outer rings with .8 nozzles and the outer has gaps where it is not thick enough. Is there any way you could maybe thicken up the outer ring just a smidge? Its only an issue where the walls thin at the lowest point in the gear teeth and still totally printable for testing but I would love to show off the final result and it would look a lot better without the holes i think lol <3

Im working on getting this printed in multi material ;) already did the big one in 4 PETG colors with the center in Fiberflex 40D and managed to get it to spin with some work but it only works one direction, I need to tighten up the tolerances a bit and just saw you posted one that wont take FOREVER for me to make each one lol Thanks! getting 5 nozzles to work together is some work but getting them to print a functional gear with micrometer tolerances is going to put it right where it needs to be to cook along perfectly!

Will print some to play with. Thanks.
