How did we get into this???

Short question: Y U doin dis?

Short answer: I'm trying to force a crash.

Explaining: the last couple of weeks were intense, with the readings of back stories, assets being created/fixed/refined, drafts being reviewed and a lot, a truckload of crashes in Daz.

The edits in the big scene got me a little desperate, too many errors, the good part is that I fined tuned it drastically, but I was thinking about tuning down the whole scene and deleting extra details... but the cashes kept happening. Let's call "crash" when the program shuts down with no good reason like when navigating with a camera in a scene while most of the system is idle, and it usually comes in 3 flavors: Daz Mini crash screen and OpenGL error 3 subcode 7 and blue screen of death. In every iteration, whatever edits on scene are lost.

The time spent into remaking edits, extra saves, creating extra backups and testing drivers delayed the evolution of the works in at least 40%.

Nothing was working, I needed to speed up or bust (I'm thinking Jana now, why?), so, as a last resort I updated the whole system backup and went for a fresh installation of DAZ, drivers and all the rest to the newest version, that is VERY worrying because a lot of the times the first iterations of updated programs and drivers don't work well and may lock content from working on earlier program versions.

Worst weekend apart, for testing I had to do something else than returning to plot or the big scene, so I went for what crashes Daz most: shaders updates and render tests in multiple instances, but things were looking a little too stable, it was time to break DAZ opening and updating old scenes!

Meh, didn't crash at all. Wait, isn't that good???

Anyway, I'll be saving all new files as new versions. At least all the work I did on photoshop is fully saved (the texture edits are a big part of the refinements), and I might push the edits at Countryside City University in order to fulfill this test and fix the whole scene left half baked at GD5, after all the scene has opened and it offers a lot of camera angles ready for testing.

I'm leaving 2 panels fully rendered with their originals so you guys can compare the before and after the new render engine: Wendy sure looks a lot prettier on iray.

See ya, and if I don't post again in the following days, Merry Xmas!

How did we get into this??? How did we get into this??? How did we get into this??? How did we get into this???

Also, the new green glass that I've developed is looking great! It might help developing other glasses for other scenes.
