They went back from outside.
Though they shivered from the lingering cold in their bodies, they hurriedly took off their winter shoes and thick socks. Then, they slid their legs into the warmth of the kotatsu. (Kotatsu is a Japanese table with an electric heater attached to the underside of the table.)
Inside the kotatsu, tinies who had fled from the cold were resting peacefully...
