I really hope Suburu comes out of this finally being humbled. There is no way for him to just instantly getting emilia's trust back. That is going to take the rest of the season most likely (Don't spoil me please)

Subaru has fallen into a state of shock from the outcome of the last loop and thus has chosen to do nothing in order to run away from responsibility of any of it. Such a cowardly way out.. because just last episode this is exactly what he was hoping for. As long as I don't give up, I can swoop in as the hero and save Emilia, right? No one else can be by her side but me, right? So the world goes "aiight bet" and gives him a massacred village. And all he does is cry "this isn't what I wanted. I'm not responsible for this." Listen to Petelgeus' words to Subaru and alot of what he is saying... is true. Even when he isn't talking to Subaru and rambling to himself about love and sloth, alot of his words directly mirror Subaru's mentality and his toxic view of his one sided relationship with Emilia. Anyway, Subaru has fallen into a shocked state of nothing to mentally close himself off and run away from the problem. But doing nothing doesn't solve the issue.. in fact it shows him the worst outcome. The question now is... what choice will Subaru make now. What path will he take now. From that final shot, it looks like Subaru has decided to take the path of vengence. Whether that will be a good idea, who knows. We'll have to wait for the next episode.
