2025-12-17 16:47:53 +0000 UTCI wanna tell u some things (no spoilers): 1. This was Zendaya first really mature role so everyone was shocked with a lot of things 2. Gen Z, or any gen really, doesnt have much trans representation so Jules being trans *and* played by an actual trans woman was huge in 2019. 3. The show is definitely mainly about addiction and I think thats where the writing is the strongest, because the creator and writer is now sober from a long life of addiction. So, he puts his all into those parts. 4. Therefore, the show is very realistic when it comes to addiction. In this first season they have an actor (angus cloud) playing fezco who had an actual addiction while filming the show. So that just adds more rawness to it. In the second season, they have more actual addicts play characters. Unfortunately, Angus Cloud has passed from his addiction. Another thing about him was that he wasnt an actor before this. He knew Zendaya, they went to the same high school (she was in a higher grade than him). But thats not what got him on the show. He was just walking around outside and cast director thought hed look perfect for the role. He thought it was a scam at first. 5. The music in this show is so iconic. The show really is period. This show is gen’z’s pretty little liars, twilight, gossip girl, mean girls. Like this is our main huge teenage show that we’re going to remember over the years. This first season already holds such nostalgia for us. Everything in it is iconic. I started with the music. So, music. Every song that’s not a known song is a song made specifically for the show by the artist labrinth and zendaya. The songs are soo effective that hearing one song brings us (gen z) right back to the exact scene that took place. Even the lighting of this show is so iconic/nostalgic. Idk if you’ve seen young people have LED lights covering their room. But if so, this show is why. We fell in live with the rooms being different colors and in 2019-2022 majority of teen rooms had led light covering their bedroom. We even got inspired by the makeup. The jewels on their eyes. So many girls at my school started wearing their make up like Jules and Maddy. It’s definitely a staple show for gen z. So many of us can remember exactly where we were when season two dropped, and we can quote many funny scenes. 6. Yes, unfortunately, the show overall is pretty realistic. But…that is a good thing in some aspects. There are manyy gen z teenage high school shows. But this was the first show we felt *actually* got how we talk down. There is only one mistake that we mock the show for, but idk if u got there. But yeah so many high school shows these days over do it with slang they think we say irl, but euphoria was the first to actually sound like us.

2025-12-17 14:06:39 +0000 UTCWhen I first watched this show, I was aghast at the behaviors of these teens. I was just like you -- this can't be reality. And while I do think (hope!!) they turned up the drama for the show, there is accuracy. This show is OFF THE HOOK so be prepared moving forward.
